Web 6a Update Installation

This package creates a form filling capability for BS 7671 : 2001 inc Amd No 2 : 2004.
(Specifically that is F1 to F6, i.e. short and standard installation, minor works, periodic inspection complete with inspection and test schedules, guidance for recipients and extra inspection and test schedules).

With this free download and the free Adobe Reader version 4 or greater, it is possible to complete and then print out the completed forms. It is even possible to save a completed form. The IEEs use of global variables, copy forward and default values makes completing the form relatively painless! Users who have the commercial versions of Acrobat 4, or greater, can also use the provided special plug-in to load files and search the archive (a forms management system!).

PLEASE NOTE
The package may be downloaded but before being run you must have Acrobat 4 or greater on your PC.

After installation please read the document Forms HomePage (forms.pdf) before using this package.
(If your PC is not connected to the web, you can down load the file, copy it to floppy disks and then transfer that to your PC. If necessary you can use WinZip or equiv. with multiple disk spanning set)

To Save or eMail a completed form in Reader, see 1.3, 1.4.2 and 1.6 in the above document.
Whilst not essential, you may wish to delete the file you downloaded, web_up6a.exe.

2. Using the Update

2.1 How to access the files The files you have installed will either have been added to an existing directory or to a new directory, probably called c:\iee_16th\forms. One way to access the files is to click the following:Start>Programs>IEE Electronic Publications>IEE Forms That should open up a file called Forms HomePage (forms.pdf), if you have not already printed out this document, you are advised to do so. Please read Forms HomePage for further advise and instructions.

3. Whats new
3.1 3.2 3.3 BS 7671 : 2001 (2004), Forms now available. You can save a completed form even with just the free Reader! Works in Readers 6 and 7.

4. Troubleshooting
4.1 When I try to extract the files Ive downloaded from the Web i.e. when I run the file web_up6a.exe, PkZip says Cant create output file C:\ etc This is probably because you were looking at the named file (using windows explorer) just before trying to extract the new files. So PkZip thinks the file is still in use. You should switch to Windows explorer or file manager and Refresh the Window i.e. press F5. Now try extracting the files once more. When I try to extract the files Ive downloaded from the Web i.e. when I run the file web_up6a.exe, PkZip says Unable to copy files. Check destination and try again

4.2

The most likely cause is that Acrobat or the IEE Technical Regulations CD programs are still running. You should close these programs, then run web_up6a.exe again.
