1) About the department:

The department of Information Technology at JSPM's Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering is established in the year 2001 with intake of 45 seats which has been increased to 60 seats in year 2002. The basic aim of department is to give the best knowledge of various concepts and latest technologies through theory and practicals. The department includes well equipped laboratories and qualified staff members to shape the career of Engineers to survive in the competitive world of Software Industries. All Staff members encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities happening inside as well as outside of the college.

Department Mission: To provide, nurture and maintain an environment of high academic excellence, research and entrepreneurship for all aspiring students which will prepare to face global challenges maintaining high ethical and moral standards. Short Term Goals: 1. To Start PG Course. 2. To Organize International Conference. 3. To increase the number of Publication of Technical Papers in International and National in Reputed Journals 4. To involve more faculty members in Consultancy and R & D work. Long Term Goals:
1. At least 50% Faculty to complete Ph.D.

2. To establish Research Centre.

3. To provide Regular Consultancy Service to Industry.

Department Features:

Internet Lab has RF Line with 22 Mbps Speed. All Computers are with latest hardware Configuration (Wireless). Students can access 24 hrs Internet Facility. Departmental Library with more than 277volumes with IEEE Journals. Active participation by faculties in paper presentation at National & International conferences, workshops and journals. Department has ISTE Students and Staff Chapter, and CSI Students Chapter Department strives to develop Industry-Ready Engineers Industry-Institute Interaction Encouragement to the Staff Members for Higher Studies and Knowledge Up gradation. Department Organizes Stress-Release Programs and Technical Activities for Faculty and Students. Departmental magazine is published every year.

Guardian Faculty member: For every approximately 20 Students one faculty acts as their GFM and is responsible for keeping track of their attendance, calling in case of absentee, counseling and solving their difficulties.

Mentoring System: Every faculty member acts as mentor for a batch of 20 Students. Monthly two meetings are conducted with students to sort out their personal or academic related problems. The Purpose of mentoring system is to: o o o Increase interaction between Faculty and Students Monitor Students Activities, Academic Performance Solve Students Difficulties and Problems

Additional efforts taken by department: Department conducts Remedial and makeup Classes for Weak students of all classes. Diploma Students of Second Year. The Subjects with University Result less than 70%

SAInt : Student association of Information Technology established in year 2006-07. ISTE: Indian Society for Technical education opened in year 2008-09 CSI: Computer Society of India established in year 2009-10.

Preparation: To prepare students for successful careers in industry and make them competent IT professionals to meet the needs of Indian and Multinational companies.

Core Competence: To provide necessary background in science & other basic engineering fields particularly in Information Technology, Mathematics, Computers & Management, and to prepare them for Post Graduate studies and research.

Breadth: To develop an ability to analyze the requirements of the software, understand the technical specifications, design and create novel engineering products and solutions for the real life problems.
