BRAKE TEST ON DC COMPOUND MOTOR


AIM: To conduct BRAKE TEST on given DC cumulative compound motor and to draw
its performance characterstics. 1)Efficiency Vs Output 3)Speed Vs Output 2) Current Vs Output 4) Torque Vs Output

PROCEDURE:
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. The circuit is connected as shown in diagram. DC suppy is switched ON and the motor is started by slowly moving the 3point startor. Speed of the motor is measured and adjusted to its rated speed by varying the field rheostat. Keeping the applied voltage constant ,load is applied using the brake drum of the motor in step s upto the rated current of the motor. Readings of voltmeter ,ammeter,brake drum weights are noted. From the test readings, the efficiency of the machine is caliculated at different loads as motor.

1. 2. 3. 4. It is Observed that all the connections are tight. While starting the motor ,it is observed that the rheostat of field winding is at minimum resistance position. It is observed that the load on the motor is decreased and then switch OFF the supply. Readings should be taken without parallox error.
