The Trust reserves the right to change your normal place of work to any other location within the Trust. To manage and monitor all information and data requests both internal and external to support internal and external benchmarking and the Integrated Care Pathway Programme. To ensure that all data sets and information provided is checked rigorously to ensure accuracy and confidence in any business assumptions made using the data. To interrogate data sets and provide summary reports to key stakeholders prior to external distribution and to ensure correlation between all organisations in terms of any trends or findings.

To ensure all timescales are developed in line with the wider ICP Programme with the necessary contingencies to allow for internal scrutiny of any data prior to distribution.
MAIN DUTIES/KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Business Intelligence and Service Analysis

The post holder would be expected to become an expert analyst on specific services, and develop strong working relationships with key individuals responsible for performance within the service line(s) / directorate. Demonstrate and champion a customer focused approach considering at all times whether his / her work reflects the requirements of the key internal and external stakeholders and is well-understood. Play a critical role in ensuring that the developing business intelligence and service analysis needs of key internal and external stakeholders are met as efficiently and effectively as possible. To develop and maintain a clear understanding of the importance of timely and accurate information provision to the service line (s) / directorate to support business plans, service re-design and benchmarking. To prepare and carry out in-depth analyses appropriately and accurately under the guidance of the Service Line Reporting Lead, using data sets on performance information provided by the Information Team as well as external sources. To ensure the proactive use of information to highlight any breaches, or potential breaches, of national targets, internal key performance indicators or business objectives are brought to the attention of the service line (s) / directorate Provide ongoing support, training and guidance to key internal stakeholders so that they are able to use the new BI tool to build and run their own information benchmarking reports, adjusting the content, parameters and presentation so as best to meet their needs. Understand the developing information and broader business intelligence needs of internal and external stakeholder groups and ensure that appropriate system extracts, reporting objects and reporting templates are built and published on the BI system. To support National benchmarking across the different Service Lines to develop a competitor analysis database.

Reporting requirements To collate and present routine activity monitoring information in a timely and accurate manner to agreed formats and timescales ensuring that clear interpretation has been made to assist service leads. To undertake complex ad-hoc analysis in areas defined by the Business and the Service Line Reporting lead. This will involve managing potentially contradictory and complex data to ascertain a credible, easily understandable position. Contribute as directed by the Service Line Reporting lead to the work to ensure that routine and statutory / mandatory information reports / returns for key internal and external stakeholders are delivered in accordance with required reporting timetables. Provide assurance of the accuracy of reports by testing and confirming correct operation of standard queries.

Ensuring that new reporting protocols, procedures and timetables are documented and existing protocols / procedures / timetables updated as appropriate to ensure business continuity. Provide high quality, concise and informative briefings to a range of internal audiences as and when required. This may include presenting complex or contentious information and explaining this to an internal audience. To contribute to the preparation and delivery of presentations which are clear and appropriate to the purpose and the audience. To provide to requestors a clear narrative including assumptions and data sources in order to interpret requested analyses or reports; to brief requestors in person as well as written. Resolve in a helpful manner any routine queries in relation to reports produced / developed and escalating any systems-related issues to the Senior Lead Reports Developer.

Data quality and information governance

To ensure that the data held on Trust information systems is complete, valid and accurate through the production of regular data quality reporting. This will require close joint working with the Clinical Systems Team and service line managers and clinicians. To develop and operate data quality checking routines and ensure safe data within the business requirements of contract monitoring, performance monitoring and demand modelling. Ensure that all reports produced / reporting objects or templates developed meet specified validation and quality control requirements by the Senior Business Analyst and Senior Lead Reports Developer before they are sent out or published on the BI tool. Regularly contributing to audits of the working practices of the team, identifying and communicating changes that could lead to improved ways of working. To observe utmost rigour in the protection of patient-identifiable data, including continual improvement of filing practices and security techniques. To maintain data security and information confidentiality and Information Governance good practice.

Systems Knowledge

Assist the Service Line Reporting lead as required to ensure that robust information systems are in place across the organisation to support the effective management and delivery of internal key performance indicators and national targets. Develop a solid understanding of the IT systems operated by CNWL with regards to data models and structures so as to facilitate work to develop new and more complex reporting objects that require effective and intelligent linkage between sources of information held on different systems. Proactively identify instances where Trust systems are not set up as best to support key stakeholders reporting requirements and escalate issues to the Senior Business Analyst and Senior Lead Reports Developer. Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of NHS information requirements and IT developments as they apply to Trust systems.

Professional development Actively contribute to the successful establishment of the new service analytics and reports development team Proactively participating in monthly 1:1 management supervision, annual objective setting and PDR / appraisal processes. Proactively engaging in training / development opportunities that could enhance his / her skills to the benefit of the teams stakeholders.

To keep a current awareness of key bodies within the NHS, such as Department of Health, Monitor and the Care Quality Commission, in particular performance management and specific targets and initiatives.
