Woodruff Church of God e-Edition Newsletter July 3, 2012

Pastors Notes: Tomorrow, the United States of America will celebrate 236 years of Independence. On July 4, 1776 our founding fathers declared our independence from the rule and control of England. I would encourage you to take time to read the Declaration of Independence. It is not very long at all. I would also encourage you to read the Constitution of the United States. You will find the yearning to be free & out from under the control of individuals and rulings that seek to suppress the individuals rights, liberties and religious worship. What has happened to America? The very things that we sought to have are now the very things that seem to be slipping away from our control. The church needs to pray fervently for this great country of ours! We need to pray for our leadership! We need to pray for Gods direction! I still believe that God has the power to cause men to turn. His Spirit can cause us to see the error of our ways and turn from wickedness. We also need to vote! It is our privilege to be able to cast our votes for the people who support our views as Christians. It is our responsibility to seek God, pray for His direction and vote for people who will uphold the laws of God. If you are not registered to vote PLEASE become a registered voter. Be in prayer for the upcoming elections and when the time for elections come, go to your polling place and cast your vote. EVERY VOTE COUNTS! In my opinion, we still have the greatest country in the world. Yet that does not give us the right to be at ease with our circumstances. We can make a difference. God can make a difference! WEDNESDAY NIGHT, JULY 4th. We will be having a Church Fellowship in the CLC. Beginning at 6:30, Hotdogs, chips and pickles will be served along with WATERMELON!!!! We are giving a special invitation to all our bus & van children to bring along their parents. What a great outreach opportunity we may have!!!!! We will take time to watch some patriotic videos as well as have special prayer for our country and our leaders. Why not come and bring a friend. Who knows, they may just find SPIRITUAL FREEDOM on that day!!!!!! This will run from 6:30 until 8:30. No activities are planned other than food, fellowship, video displays and prayer. Please join us for a time of fellowship and honoring our great FREEDOM!!!!! If you were not at Church Sunday night, I gave the people an opportunity to sign up for SATURDAY SURGE. This is an opportunity to be involved in going out to reach 3 people groups: 1) The backslidden, 2) the cold & indifferent, 3) the Hispanic. There were at least 27 that signed up on Sunday night. HALLELUJAH!!!!! But we need MORE! Id love to have enough that we could go out on almost every night of the week. That way, if Saturday didnt work for you, there would be a night, evening or afternoon that would work for you. I truly

believe that this will make a huge impact in your life and will help us to reap the harvest God has already given to us. The sign-up sheet will be in the hallway that leads to the restrooms. There will be an informational/training session for Saturday Surge on Saturday, July 21st at 10:00 AM in the CLC Dining Room. Coffee, Juice and pastries will be served. ALL who sign up need to be in attendance. Thank you!

Just wanted you to see the progress of the Church of God at Lajitas (Lajitas Inglesia de Dios). This church is being built from the ground up by the monies you gave in the missions bags in February.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE.. Help us with this. The Woodruff Ministerial Association and area churches are working together on a project to aid District 4 students and parents with school supplies for next school year. This project is called GREAT START WOODRUFF. District 4 is allowing us to hold this event on their campus but in doing so, we must provide for all students. This is a mammoth undertaking, yet God has already begun working miracles. 2000 back packs have been donated to this cause!!!!! Several church are put together to work on a few of the items. Our items are: 1) 1,900 packs of #2 pencils, 2) 875 pencil sharpeners with covers, 3) 300 pencil pouches with 3 holes, 4) 500 pens (blue/black). Ive asked our ministries to be involved but I want you to be involved as well. There will be a box in the lobby for you to place your items in. Together, we can make this event a huge success. On that day, there will be free haircuts given, a prayer tent to provide prayer for any person or family that wants prayer. Each book bag will also have a copy of the Word of God in it. This is a huge opportunity for our churches in Woodruff to impact our community. Please help us in this endeavor!!! Thank You!!!

WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to help with this project. We need help packing the back packs, moving the stuff from West End Baptist to the Activity Center, setting up and unsetting on the day of the giveaway, help at the registration table, etc. Here is a sign-up sheet that weve been given. If you would like to help, please fill it out and turn it in to Pastor Terry. Thanks in advance for helping us work together with other churches and also helping our community!

Great Start Woodruff

Our community-wide school supply giveaway is only a few weeks away, and you can be a great blessing to families here in District 4. Heres how you can help:
On Friday, August 3rd, beginning at 9 am, we will need everyone who is available (with vehicle) to transport the school supplies from West End Baptist Church to the District 4 Activities Center (next to the Elementary School), and then set up the Activities Center for Great Start. On Saturday, August 4th, there are a variety of ways you can be involved (see below). In addition to giving away school supplies, we will also have a prayer table set up, and if you are comfortable sharing your faith, there will be opportunities for that as well.

To help us know how many people can volunteer, please fill out the bottom portion of this page and return it to your pastor or ministry coordinator. Place your name (and other family members names) in the space provided.
