Teenage pregnancy issue in Chiang Mai

Our group are interested in the teenage pregnancy issue in Chiang Mai.Today,unwanted pregnancy and spreads of sexually-transmitted diseases are the problems often found in Thai teenagers.These problem are increasing especially in the rural communities in the northern Thailand and even we have been trying to conquer the issue. Still we have not been able to succeed it. Chiang Mai is also one of cities,which have very high rates of teenage mothers,and that is a problem to our society in every scale.Moreover,unwanted pregnancy is the cause of an illegal abortion in teenagers.As we are medicine students,we are concerned about what are the factors to the problem and wonder how to solve it. There are a number of factors responsible for teenage pregnancy but we can categorize these reasonsintotwo groups which are internal Factors and External factor. Internal factor is the lacking of proper communication with teachers, families and peer in daily life. Family is very important institution for every development of children. Family have ever been best institution for xing childrens problem by consulting one another in family but nowadays many parents dont have the talk with their children due to parents work, family problem or childrens being away from home. Less talking in family causes fewer skills required for better living in children, which can lead to many children problems included teenager pregnancy. If children dont have the talk with their parents, they will not have the consultant for their problem and have more chance to walk in the wrong way or they will turn their head to their friends and get the wrong information from their friends who have equal experience. Next concerning the external factors .One factor that is important key, which causes teenager pregnancy. External factors is about sex communication in school such as sex education in school which does not cover the topics relationship between man and woman so children remain poorly equipped to prevent negative outcomes such as unwanted pregnancy or infection. Age difference between teacher and student is one important external factor that can make different perspective and result in misunderstanding about sex. At present, technology is developing quickly. Children receive much sex-related information from the media such as the Internet, TV and telephone. These medias are stream in real time and are not be ltered so children may get wrong information, idea meaning and social value such as stripping of their uniform in favor of sexy dress, drinking and dancing and manipulating their dress code as a means to show off their sexuality. Acceptable drinking at home also builds teenagers condence to engage in drinking activities and lead to sexual activity and unwanted pregnancy. Lastly, poverty and materialism are factors, which can lead children to exchange sex for money. As you may have already noticed the causes of youth pregnancy problem,here there are many solutions to the issue.First of all,It is crucial to clarify problems and roots in each community ,then Coordinate continuously with government to provide support for the psycho-social development of children and teenager.Second,each community should also make a campaign on prenatal care among teen mothers and setting up of prenatal clinic.The clinic may prepare the treatment to take care of mental health for teenagers mothers.Also,a sexual health service or particular clinic should support sufcient information

and advisory to let teenagers realize the importance of the service as a part of their society,and in order to archive the goal,it is important to have a cooperation from all sectors;families, society and the Government.Parents should understand and have a conversation with their kids about the problem.Society also has to provide accurate information on the youth pregnancy issue to teenagers.The elders student are as well expected to teach younger students how to behave properly .Next,it is important for the government to provide a better sexual education,which is suitable for all aspects.The lessons should clearly enhance their sexual literacy.Specic programs for sensitizing young men and women in ensuring safe sex are also signicantly needed.Parents and teachers are as well responsible for establishing communication between risk teenagers and them.The activities would include developing deep listening skills and positive communication via art activities, personal reections, music, drama, games, and story,and so forth.
