A PROTEST about the contin-
ued testing of drones at
Aberporth was held last
Saturday.
Cymdeithas y Cymod, the
Fellowship of Reconciliation in
Wales, made apilgrimage tothe
airfield to hold a service of
repentance for the role
Aberporth and Wales play in
the development of military
drones (unmanned aerial vehi-
cles).
The event was held at Hendre
farm, Blaenannerch, home of
the late Archdruid Dic Jones,
on land that borders on the
drones testing site. The
Prifardd Mererid Hopwood,
chair of the local cell of
Cymdeithas y Cymod, said:
The aimwas to remember the
innocent people killed by drone
strikes, and to show the shame
that Wales land and air are
beingusedtotest thesemilitary
robots.
Here we had an opportunity
to showour sympathy with the
families of those who lost their
lives through drone attacks,
and turn our tears into song
and action.
During the service a petition
calling for the Welsh
Government to withdraw its
support for the UAVs was to the
president of Cymdeithas y
Cymod, Rev Guto Prys ap
Gwynfor, asking himto deliver
it to the National Assembly for
Wales.

A 20-YEAR-OLD Aberporth woman
seriously injured in a road accident and
later charged with careless driving is
being given the opportunity to take a
drivingcourseinsteadof facingprosecu-
tion.
Kirsty Anne Jones, of 21 Trenchard
Estate, Parcllyn, who was represented
by Alan Lewis was not present at
Ceredigion Magistrates Court when
her case was listed. It was alleged she
was driving a Fiat Seicento travelling
north on the A487 road at Llanrhystud
when she lost control on a right-hand
bend, her car colliding with the front
offside of an oncoming vehicle and
then with a following vehicle.
The case was adjourned until
September 28 for the defendant to com-
plete a drivers improvement course.
