Disassembly Procedure
Please follow the information provided in this section to perform the complete disassembly procedure of the notebook. Be sure to use proper tools described before.

Chapter

SUS UL50 Series Notebook consists of various modules. This chapter describes the procedures for the complete notebook disassembly. In addition, in between procedures, the detailed disassembly procedure of individual modules will be provided for your service needs.

The disassembly procedure consists of the following steps: Battery Module Memory Module HDD Module ODD Module Keyboard Module Top Case Module LCD Module Motherboard Module Bottom Case Module

Battery Module
The illustration below shows how to remove the battery module. Remove Battery Module

Open latch 1 and hold the latch 2 when take the battery away.

Memory Module
The illustrations below show how to remove the Memory Module from the notebook. Remove Memory Module

1. Remove 1 screw on HDD door. Lift up the HDD door and take it away.

2. Remove 4 screws to separate HDD from HDD housing. Remove 4 screws on the HDD housing and separate the HDD from its housing.

HDD Module
The illustrations below show how to remove the HDD module from the notebook. Remove HDD Module

1. Remove 2 screws securing the HDD module and take out the HDD module from its compartment.

2. Remove 4 screws on both sides of the HDD module and separate the HDD housing.

ODD Module
The illustrations below show how to remove the ODD Module from the notebook.

1. Remove 2 screws on the bottom case and pull out the ODD from its compartment.

Keyboard Module

The illustrations below show how to remove the Keyboard and disassemble the Keyboard Cover. Remove the Keyboard

1. Open 4 latches (ESC, F5, PtrSc, End) on keyboard module by a pair of tweezers.

2. Turn over the keyboard plate, tear off the tape and disconnect the keyboard FPC and remove the keyboard plate.

Remove Keyboard Cable

1. Use a flexible connector tool to unlock the cable connector on both ends (no. 1). 2. Carefully pull out the keyboard cable (no. 2) with a pair of tweezers. 3. Lock the connector (no. 3) again to avoid possible breakage.

Top Case Module

The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the Top Case Module of the notebook. Remove the Top Case Module

1. Tear off 2 pieces of tape then disconnect the power button FPC and touchpad FPC. Remove 10 screws on the top case.

2. Remove 21 screws on the bottom case. Take off the top case from the system.

Disassemble the Top Case Module

3. Remove 1 screw on the power button board and remove the power button board. Remove 1 screw on the touchpad board. Tear off 2 pieces of tape and disconnect the touchpad FPC. Take away the touchpad board. Then disconnect the FPC from the touchpad.

LCD Module
The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the LCD Module of the notebook. Remove the LCD Module

1. Remove 4 screws on 2 hinges of the LCD module.

2. Disconnect the 2IN1 cable, the LVDS cable and the WLAN antennas from the motherboard.

3. Lift up the LCD module and take it away.

4. Remove 8 screws on the LCD bezel. Then pry the edges of the bezel and remove the bezel.

2. Remove 4 screws securing the LCD panel. Take away the LCD panel.

3. Turn over the LCD panel and disconnect the LVDS cable from the panel.

4. Remove 4 screws on both LCD hinges and remove them. Then disconnect the 2IN1 cable from the camera and remove the camera.

Motherboard Module
The illustrations below show how to remove and disassemble the MB Module of the notebook. Remove the MB Module

1. Remove 3 screws on the fan. Disconnect the fan cable and the DC-IN cable from the motherboard. Then take away the fan.

2. Remove 4 screws on the motherboard. Then softly remove the motherboard from the bottom case.

3. Disassemble the IO board from the motherboard.

4. Remove 2 screws on the WLAN card and remove the WLAN card.

5. Remove 6 screws on the heat sink as below. Then take the hear sink away.

6. Remove 2 screws securing the LAN_CRT board and separate it from the motherboard.

Bottom Case Module

The illustrations below show how to disassemble the Bottom Case Module. Disassemble the Bottom Case Module

1. Tear off the tape fixing the cables and remove Bluetooth module in the bottom case. Then remove 4 screws on the speaker and take them out from the bottom case.
