GovDelivery is a high growth software as a service (SaaS) company and is the world's leading provider of government-to-citizen communication solutions. GovDelivery's flagship solution is its Digital Communication Management (DCM) which provides organizations with a fully-automated, on-demand system for world class communication with the public. DCM empowers governments to build a base of people that can be reached directly and to reach the public immediately with relevant information by proactively communicating official content through email, text messaging, social media, RSS, and other channels. GovDelivery is used by more than 400 government organizations worldwide, including over half of the federal government, 7 of the 14 largest counties in the U.S., major cities including Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Baltimore, state agencies across more than 25 states, the U.K. Parliament, Norwich City Council (U.K.), European Space Agency, and many more. Every day, more than 20,000 new people sign up to receive updates from the government through GovDelivery, and governments deliver more than 1 billion updates to the public every quarter through GovDelivery on topics ranging from updates on local bus routes and park hours to national emergencies. GovDelivery launched its first government client in January 2001, and has been a leader in government-to-citizen communications since that time. The company has been recognized for its fast growth (Twin Cities Fast 50, Inner-City 100), environmental stewardship and innovation (City of St. Paul), community leadership (St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce), and for technology innovation in the Federal sector (Federal Computer Week). In 2009, GovDelivery acquired government-oriented knowledge network, GovLoop www.govloop.com which the Washington Post has called the Facebook for Feds. In early 2012 acquired emergency notification company GovInteract www.govinteract.com further expanding GovDeliverys suite of capabilities. GovDelivery is based in St. Paul MN with more than twenty staff in Washington DC and additional offices in London and in the New York area.

In early 2010, GovDelivery management partnered with ICG to acquire 100% ownership of GovDelivery from its early investors. ICG (www.icg.com), based in Wayne, PA, is a leader in SaaS, tech enabled, BPO and Internet Marketing, driving growth in businesses that transform markets and ways of doing business.

POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will provide strategic and operational leadership with initial responsibility spanning across product management, product development, technology operations, professional services, client services, and customer support, but with a broad mandate to provide operational leadership to drive growth across the entire company. The COO will be a key member of the senior leadership team in driving the growth strategy and leading the growth of the companys operations. The COO will be expected to build strong relationships across the company, providing additional leadership to support/develop all functional areas including Sales/Marketing, Finance, and Human Resources. The Chief Operating Officer will initially have four direct reports: VP of Technology (spanning product, technology operations, and technology support), Director of Client Services, Director of Engagement Service, and Manager of Customer Support (open), but will have the ability to reorganize the team over time to accommodate growth. Overall staff responsibility is approximately 60, but is expanding rapidly with growth in the business. Overall employee count is approximately 100 with plans to expand 15% through 2012.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Serve as a key General Manager of the business providing strategic management and operational leadership to help the company achieve aggressive growth objectives as well as build a scalable and profitable operation and business model. Establish credibility throughout the organization as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges and opportunities. Lead, mentor, develop, coach and empower the Technology, Client Services and Customer Support leadership and teams. Own the plans to scale the operation of the business (systems, processes, technology, people) through rapid growth and significant acquisitions. Lead GovDeliverys efforts to establish/enhance priorities and processes for new customer integration and customer care, as well as identifying and developing additional revenue opportunities with the current customer base.

In concert with CEO and the VP of Technology, lead Enterprise Excellence. This refers to enterprise-wide management of software products (reporting, sending, content, promotion) as well as enterprise level performance of GovDeliverys software products. In collaboration with the Senior Leadership team, identify strength areas (customer sectors, products, services, content) and develop strategies to capitalize on those strengths to build new and expanded revenue streams. Champion the customer centric culture of GovDelivery, displaying a sincere passion for serving the government sector and building/growing teams who share that passion and commitment.

QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate will possess a bachelors degree or equivalent and ten-plus years of senior leadership experience in a software company. MBA or other advanced degree considered a plus. General management experience and experience in leadership in a SaaS organization considered a strong plus. Senior leadership experience in a fast growth organization is an absolute must as the candidate must have demonstrated tenacity and an ability to relentlessly pursue, and achieve, high growth. It is vital that the Chief Operating Officer be a results-oriented individual who possesses both a broad strategic understanding as well as an ability to dive into tactical issues to support team members and to provide leadership during high pressure situations in a 24/7 environment. The ideal candidate will have been a senior leader in at least one fast growth software company who has successfully moved through the issues of scale, i.e. systems, process, people, etc. The ability to relate to people at all levels of the organization and maintain a positive team orientation is essential. This individual will be skilled at gathering, assessing and sharing information, and will serve as a coach, mentor and facilitator. This leadership position requires an ability to communicate effectively on complex topics to employee groups, clients, and management at all levels of the company as well as the Board of Directors.

COMPENSATION
The compensation for this position is highly competitive and consists of a base salary, annual management incentive as well as an equity package.
