Allen Data Center

Built by Cisco from the ground up, the infrastructure in the data center is optimized for consolidation and virtualization, two vital elements along Cisco’s journey to cloud computing. The Cisco Unified Computing System, our core platform for virtualization, is deployed extensively in the data hall. At the Allen data center, Cisco has moved ahead rapidly with its plans for an internal cloud. Already more than 90 percent of the virtual clusters throughout Cisco are managed by our own internal cloud, called CITEIS. In the challenging areas of space, power, and cooling, the Allen facility was purpose-built so that every design element supports the high-density demands of Cisco’s IT infrastructure. What’s more, the Allen facility together with Cisco’s existing production data center in nearby Richardson, Texas, form a metro virtual data center pair that provides the resiliency and fault tolerance required at all application, network, and storage layers.
