Martin MacNeill trial

Evidence introduced during Martin MacNeill’s four-week murder trial was made available to the media by court officials. Over 13 days of testimony, prosecutors and defense attorneys submitted 66 exhibits for jurors to review. A 4th District Court jury convicted Martin MacNeill, 57, of first-degree felony murder and second-degree felony obstruction of justice in the death of his 50-year-old wife. Prosecutors convinced a jury that Martin MacNeill — a former doctor — gave his wife a fatal cocktail of prescription drugs, then drowned her in a bathtub at their Pleasant Grove home. The defendant’s motive, they argued, was to continue an affair with 37-year-old Gypsy Jyll Willis.
