Shutter
Shutter-a mechanism which open and close to control the time that light is allow to fall onto a film or CCD, measured in second, eg 1/250,1/125, 1/60, 1sec Faster shutter will freeze fast moving object but shorten the duration of light allow to fall onto a film or CCD Slower shutter speed is great for special effect Use tripod or support camera if using speed of more than 1/60 second

Shutter

Aperture
Aperture -a hole behind the lens which can be adjusted to let more or less light that is allowed to fall onto a film or CCD, measured in f number, eg f/2.8, f/4,f/5.6,f/8 Smaller f number means bigger hole while bigger f number means smaller hole Bigger f number will decrease depth of field while smaller f number will increase depth of field or the nearest and farthest part of a scene that is in focus

Aperture

f/5.6

Exposure
The amount of light that reach the film or CCD when you take photograph Its is the combination of right aperture size with the right shutter speed. Example f/8 at 1/125 second In AUTO mode, the exposure is set automatically by the camera metering system In POTRAIT mode, it will use the biggest suitable f number In LANDSCAPE mode, it will use the smallest suitable f number In FAST ACTION mode, it will use the fastest suitable shutter speed In NIGHT SCENE mode, it will use the slowest suitable shutter speed If the right exposure is not achieved because of less light or under exposure , flash will be used

ISO Speed
ISO-the measurement of film sensitivity or CCD sensitivity in digital Common ISO -100,200,400,800,100 Noiseware Community Edition

Higher the ISO

More sensitive More ability to capture in less light Able to capture fast action More noisy/grainy photo

Lower the ISO

Less sensitive Less ability to capture in less light Less ability to capture fast action Less noisy/grainy photo

Using Tripod
ISO-the measurement of film sensitivity or CCD sensitivity in digital Common ISO -100,200,400,800,100 Noiseware Community Edition

Higher the ISO

More sensitive More ability to capture in less light Able to capture fast action More noisy/grainy photo

Lower the ISO

Less sensitive Less ability to capture in less light Less ability to capture fast action Less noisy/grainy photo

Using Flash
After setting the aperture size, shutter ISO but still under, flash can be used Make other light available if possible to increase overall brightness Make sure you know the flash range If possible, use side flash or lighting For natural photography, flash can look artificial if not controlled Diffuse or bounce for soft effect if flash is directly in front to avoid harsh shadow or image flatness

Lock The Focus

Wrong shutter Main subject not in focus Especially for off centered subject

Right 1. Aim at main subject 2. Press shutter HALFWAY to lock focus and do not release shutter 3. Move subject to either side 4. Press shutter fully to take photo
