DENGUE HAEMORHAGIC FEVER

Dengue fever also known as breakbone fever, is an infectious tropical disease caused by the dengue virus. Symptoms include fever, headache, muscle and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. In a small proportion of cases the disease develops into the lifethreatening dengue hemorrhagic fever, resulting in bleeding, low levels of blood platelets and blood plasma leakage, or into dengue shock syndrome, where dangerously low blood pressure occurs.

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms of dengue fever are fever, headache, muscle aches and joint pains, and a characteristic skin rash that is similar to measles. How common is the problem?


Dengue hemorraghic fever has a saddle phases, the first symptoms of high fever accompanied by high body temperature and fever down as if it will heal, but that's when the critical phase and a high fever again. During the critical phase that is likely bad can happen, will decrease the patient's condition and can lead to death

Blood tests is a very precise method to determine the health status of patients with dengue fever, if the platelet count decreased, it can be ascertained patients suffering from dengue fever. If so then it is better for healing patients were given intensive care in hospital.

Until now there is no specific medication for dengue hemorraghic fever patients. Many people who recover from the disease within 2 weeks and the treatment is generally performed in patients with dengue fever is less severe body fluids (through drinks or electrolyte) to prevent dehydration from fever and vomiting, consumption of drugs containing acetaminophen (eg tilenol) to relieve pain and reduce fever and lots of rest.

Aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen and naproxen sodium can actually increase the risk of bleeding for patients with more severe dengue, it is advisable to undergo inpatient in a hospital, and the infusion of electrolytes to replace body fluids and blood transfusion due to bleeding occurred.

A person affected with dengue hemorraghic fever should also be prevented exposed to mosquito bites, because it feared could transmit dengue virus to other healthy people
