CONCLUSIONS
Based from the ordinary Monte Carlo

Simulation, the light railway transit, in its maiden structural form, can withstand seismic forces.
IT IS SAFE.

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

RECOMMENDATIONS
A more sophisticated method of

structural reliability is suggested to obtain the value of reliability index or probability of failure of the structure

8/20/12

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

RECOMMENDATIONS
A series of known ground motion data,

specifically ground acceleration which taking into account the soil type, must be used to compute for the reliability index.

8/20/12

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

RECOMMENDATIONS
Instead of a simple SDOF lumped

mass model, structural modeling thru the use of finite element methods must be used for an accurate account of the physical properties of one of the LRTs reinforced concrete pier.

8/20/12

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

InCiTe 2012 (BAYLON & GARCIANO)

RECOMMENDATIONS
Since this research dealt only one part

of the structural system, i.e. column, a more detailed structural reliability study of the system can be implemented using the as-built plans of a certain line of the LRT System.
