MICROSCOPE

GRADE 7 SEMESTER 1

A microscope is an instrument used to magnify small size things which cannot be seen eye directly. The object that will be seen by microscope is called preparation.

Mention parts of microscope and explain its function !

The parts of microscope consist of : (1)

1. Ocular lens to enlarge the image from the objective lens. 2. Objective lens to magnify the image of the preparation. 3. Diaphragm to regulate the amount of light to the condenser. 4. Mirror to reflect light from a light source to the condenser. 5. Microscope body to regulate the focus linking the ocular

lens to the objective lens.

6. Macrometer to quickly move the microscope body up and down. www.wotosuwoto.co.cc

The parts of microscope consist of : (2) 7.Micrometer to slowly move the microscope body up & down. 8.Arm of microscope as a handgrip while moving the microscope.

9.Object desk as a place to put on the object to be observed

10.Condenser rotator to move the condenser up & down in order to obtain optimum light.
5

The parts of microscope consist of : (3) 11.Microscope stand to support & hold the microscope firmly in position. 12.Condenser to collect the light from the mirror which is used to light the preparation.

13.Clamp to hold preparation glass.

14.Revolver to choose object lens

I sure you will understand about using microscope and making a section if you have experiment in your class. Please follow correct experiment !

EVALUATION (1) Choose the right answer by putting a cross (X) on one of the letters A, B, C, or D !!!

1.The main function of a microscope is (a) to beautify object (b) to change object (c) to magnify object (d) to determine shape of object. 2.A microscope which uses one lens is called microscope. True fill is (a) binocular (b) ocular (c) monocular (d) objective. 3.A microscope which uses two ocular lenses is called microscope. True fill is (a) binocular (b) ocular (c) monocular (d) objective. 4.The lens near the eye of the observer is called lens. True fill is (a) ocular (b) revolver (c) diaphragm (d) objective.
8

EVALUATION (2) 5.The part near the object which functions to magnify the observed the object is called (a) ocular lens (b) revolver (c) diaphragm (d) objective lens. 6.The part of microscope which function to regulate light entering is the (a) ocular lens (b) condensor (c) macrometer (d) diaphragm.

7.The part of microscope which functions to reflect the light from light source to the condensor is the (a) ocular (b) diaphragm (c) mirror (d) objective lens. 8.The part of microscope which connects the ocular lens and objective lens is the (a) diaphragm (b) microscope body (c) arm microscope (d) microscope leg.
9

EVALUATION (3) 9.The part of microscope which function to sharpen the focus is the (a) micrometer (b) macrometer (c) mirror (d) objective lens. 10.Notice the order of using a microscope below (1) finding viewing field (2) regulating focus with strong magnification (3) adjusting the position of microscope to be stored (4) regulating focus with weak magnification. The right order is (a) 1-2-3-4 (b) 1-3-2-4 (c) 1-3-4-2 (d) 1-4-2-3. 11.Herbarium is (a) collection of preserved, dried plants (b) collection of preserved, dried fish (c) collection of preserved, dried birds (d) collection of preserved, dried insect.
10

EVALUATION (4) 12.Plant organ or animal organ which will be used to make preparation must be cut (a) very thick (b) thick (c) medium size (d) thin. 13.In the making of wet preparation, what functions the place for object that will be observed is called (a) storage glass (b) closure glass (c) object glass (d) preparation glass. 14.Notice the statements below ! (1) The section of organ that will be observed (2) Cover with closure glass (3) Put in the object glass (4) Drop some water on the object glass. The steps in the making of preparation consecutevely are (a) 1-2-3-4 (b) 1-2-4-3 (c) 1-3-4-2 (d) 1-4-3-2.
