Communication Technology
You communication planning will be both enhanced

and constrained by the available communication technology. Factors to consider include;


The urgency of need for the information The availability, ease of use, and cost of the technology The experience and expertise of the project staff and

other stakeholders The lifetime of the available technology relative to the length of the project The project environment. Does the team meet fact-toface or in a virtual environment?

Communications Mgt Plan


Documents the comm. Strategy for the project, and

includes stakeholders requirements, format, content, who is responsible, who will receive what, mode of technology used, frequency, escalation of issues, updating, and glossary of terminologies. It may be formal or informal, detailed or broadly defined, contingent on project need It is a part of the overall project plan (PM Plan)

Information Distribution
Is making information available to the stakeholders in

a timely fashion. The project team needs to determine what information is needed by whom in what format and when, and what are the best method of distribution, in accordance with the comm. Mgt. plan.

-ive means behind schedule or over budget
+ive means ahead of schedule or under budget

50/50 rule task is 50% done when started, 50% done

when completed 20/80 rule - task is 20% done when started, 80% done when completed 0/100% rule - task earns 100% of its value when complete
