working on any day of the preceding 12 months and in any part of which a manufacturing process is being carried on with the aid of power ,or is ordinarily so carried on,or wheron 20 or more workers are working or were working on any day of the preceding 12 months and in any part of which a manufacturing process is being carried on without the aid of power ,or is ordinarily so carried on,or

Making ,altering ,repairing ,finishing ,packing , oiling

washing ,cleaning ,or otherwise treating or adapting any articles or substance with a view to its use , sale transport ,delivery or disposal, or pumping oil, water ,sewage, or any othersubstance, Constructing , reconstructing .repairing, refitting ,finishing breaking up ships or vessels,or Preserving or storing any articles in cold storage

WORKING HOURS OF ADULTS

HEALTH
Cleanliness - factory to be kept clean and free from

effluvia and dirt and use of painting and varnishing. Ventilation and temperature maintenance of adequate ventilation and service of notice by the chief inspector on the occupier to adopt measures for reduction of temperature. Lighting sufficient and suitable lighting in every part of factory and measures for prevention of glare and formation of shadows.

Drinking water- suitable points for wholesome

drinking water and cooling of drinking water more than 250 workers employed. Overcrowding overcrowding injurious to health of workers to be avoided and 9.9 /14.2 cubic metres of space per worker Dust and fame measures for prevention of inhalation or accumulation of dust and fame

SAFETY
Fencing of machinery- dangerous part of every

machinery to be securely fenced. Work on near machinery in motion examination of machinery in motion by a trained adult male worker and restriction on woman and young persons. Employment of young persons on dangerous machines restrictions on young persons to work on dangerous machines. Striking gear and devices for cutting off powersuitable striking gear to be provided , maintained and used.

Hoists and lifts hoists and lifts to be of good

mechanical construction and to be properly maintained and examined once in every 6 months in every hoists and lifts shall be of good mechanical construction ,sound material,and adequate strength. Lifting machines, chains, ropes and lifting tackles cranes and lifting machines ,to be of good construction and to be examined once in every 12 months.

Washing facilities
Facilities for storing and drying clothing Facilities for sitting provision of sitting

arrangement for workers obliged to work in a standing position. First aid appliances at least one first-aid box with prescribed contents for every 150 workers. Canteens- conteen in factory employing more than 250 workers .

Shelters, rest rooms and lunch rooms- provision

for shelters, rest rooms and lunch rooms in factory employing more than 150 workers. Creches- provision of creches in factories employing more than 30 woman workers.

WORKING HOURS OF ADULTS


Weekly hours- adults workers shall be required or

allowed to work in a factory for more than 48 hours in any week. Daily hours adults workers shall be required or allowed to work in a factory for more than 9 hours in any day. Night shifts- where a worker in a factory works on a shift which extends beyond midnight and his weekly or compensatory holiday for a whole day means a period of 24 consecutive hours beginning when his shifts ends.
