WHAT IS WELDING?
Welding is the process of joining the similar are dissimilar metals. The welding can be done by various methods. Many different energy sources can be used for welding, including a gas flame, an electric arc , a laser, an electron beam, friction, and ultrasound.
TYPES OF WELDING:
Some of the welding process are;
Arc Welding Gas Welding Electro-slag Welding Ultrasonic Welding Gas Metal-Arc Welding Plasma Arc Welding Submerged Arc Welding Electron Beam Welding Laser Beam Welding
LASERS IN WELDING:
LASER is an acronym for, "Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation Laser Beam Welding (LBW) is a modern welding process used to join multiple pieces of metal through the use of a laser. The beam provides a concentrated heat source, allowing for narrow, deep welds and high welding rates.
SPECIFIC LASER WELDING CAPABILITIES: 600 Watt Yag Lasers CNC Controlled Welders for Accurate Repeatability Single Job to Multiple Welds Per Part Capabilities Material Thickness from .001 to .100 of an Inch Bead Width from .010 to .030 of an Inch Welder Speed up to 100 Inches per minute Laser Etching for Wording or Letters

ND: YAG LASER The Nd: YAG (neodymium-yttrium aluminum garnet) laser uses a man-made crystal as its active medium and produces light with a 1.06-micron wavelength. CARBON DIOXIDE LASERS: The CO2 laser uses a mixture of gases including CO2 as the active medium and produces light with a 10.6-micron wavelength.

ROBOTIC AUTOMATION:
A robot laser welding system can improve automation with flexibility, repeatability, quality, and a large return on investment (ROI). It consists of a servo-controlled, multi-axis mechanical arm, with a laser cutting head mounted to the faceplate of the robot arm.
This shows the images of Dual-beam laser welds; Single-beam laser welds.
DISADVANTAGES:
Health and Safety Extensive Training Skilled labors High Cost High power consumption.
CONCLUSION:
Suitable advances in technology foster change and the changes that we are witnessing in the welding industry today are due to the forces of new power source technology. Thus it is necessary for the welding industry to get advanced with the welding technology. So that the company can reap the whole benefits and rewards for the customers as well as other companies.
