In electronics and telecommunications a transmitter or radio transmitter is an electronic device which, with the aid of an antenna, produces radio waves. The transmitter itself generates a radio frequency alternating current, which is applied to the antenna.

*
* There are 7 short wave transmitters, There frequency response
is b/w 3.2 -26.1 Mhz.
They are classified in 3 categories:

* BBC(BROWN BOVERI CORPORATION FROM SWITZERLAND),

2 Transmitters * CEC(CONTINENTAL ELECTRONIC CORPORATION FROM U.S.A), 2 Transmitters * THALES(THOMCAST CORPORATION FROM SWITZERLAND), 3 Transmitters

This transmitter was put in khampur on 8th December 1995. This transmitter was designed by CONTINENTAL ELECTRONICS CORPORATION of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

*
The CEC transmitter is mainly divided into 13 units.

*
Transmitter control provides metering of transmitter operating parameters, push-button control and computer control of transmitter.

*
Modulator is a device which is used for varying phase, frequency or amplitude of carrier wave, with the instantaneous value of RF voltage.

*
* This
unit employs a series of Amplifying stages beginning with a variable RF level of upto approximately 1 volt output from synthesizer .

*
This unit converts an unbalanced 75ohm input to balanced 300 ohm output . The output from this is conducted through two 150 ohm transmission lines to the 300 ohm transmission site line.

*
This unit includes the primary power disconnect breaker to the transmitter, which is also a safety part of transmitter.

*
This unit includes power dissipated resistors, a water pump, and a heat exchanger to safely dissipate the full RF output power of the transmitter. Twos resistors, each 150 ohms are immersed in a flowing column of water which is then pumped through an external heat exchanger.

*
Transmission Line, includes two conductor balanced transmission line supported on ceramic insulators within a rectangular metal duct. Transmission line impedance is 300 ohms.

*
Cooling system which is a high-purity water loop including pump with pump starter assembly, backup pump & water-to-air heat exchanger. In addition there is a pump devoted to cooling circulation during Black heat standby operation.

*
An antenna (or aerial) is an electrical device which converts electric power into radio waves, and vice versa. It is usually used with a radio transmitter or radio receiver.

*
This unit includes interlock keys on each cabinet door for which the operator may come in contact with RF or high voltage. Keying is arranged so that grounding of high voltage is required before access to any transmitter door keys is allowed.
