The Millennium

Introduction
We have learned in our last lesson that the Lord is coming again. If we read Rev. 19:11-through the end of chapter 20, well find in these verses that the second coming will be followed immediately by a period of 1,000 years, which is mentioned 6 times in Rev. 20:1-9 and is commonly known as The Millennium. It is an English word, made up by joining 2 latin terms, Mille(1,000) and Annus(year), meaning simply- One thousand years.

1. Return of Jesus
Rev.19:11 11 Then I saw heaven open, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True; it is with justice that he judges and fights his battles. 1 Thess. 4:16 16 There will be the shout of command, the archangel's voice, the sound of God's trumpet, and the Lord himself will come down from heaven. Those who have died believing in Christ will rise to life first;

2. The Righteous Dead Raised

Rev 20: 4 4 Then I saw thrones, and those who sat on them were given the power to judge. I also saw the souls of those who had been executed because they had proclaimed the truth that Jesus revealed and the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image, nor had they received the mark of the beast on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and ruled as kings with Christ for a thousand years.

2. The Righteous Dead Raised

Rev 20: 6

6 Happy and greatly blessed are those who are included in this first raising of the dead. The second death has no power over them; they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and they will rule with him for a thousand years.

3. The Living Saints Caught Up

1 Thess. 4:17 17 then we who are living at that time will be gathered up along with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will always be with the Lord. Matt. 24:31 31 The great trumpet will sound, and he will send out his angels to the four corners of the earth, and they will gather his chosen people from one end of the world to the other. John 14:3 Good News Translation (GNT) 3 And after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that you will be where I am.

3. The Living Saints Caught Up

3. The Living Saints Caught Up

John 13:36 36 Where are you going, Lord? Simon Peter asked him. You cannot follow me now where I am going, answered Jesus; but later you will follow me.

4. The Living Wicked Slain

Revelation 19:11-16 (Good News Translation) I saw heaven open, and there was a white horse. Its rider is called Faithful and True; it is with justice that he judges and fights his battles. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire, and he wore many crowns on his head. He had a name written on him, but no one except himself knows what it is.13 The robe he wore was covered with blood. His name is The Word of God. 14 The armies of heaven followed him, riding on white horses and dressed in clean white linen. 15 Out of his mouth came a sharp sword, with which he will defeat the nations. He will rule over them with a rod of iron, and he will trample out the wine in the wine press of the furious anger of the Almighty God. 16 On his robe and on his thigh was written the name: King of kings and Lord of lords. 11 THESS. 1:7-8 7 and he will give relief to you who suffer and to us as well. He will do this when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 with a flaming fire, to punish those who reject God and who do not obey the Good News about our Lord Jesus.
