Introduction of KSTPS
Location:
Bank of river Chambal at up stream of Kota Barrage. Sakatpura, Kota.

Installed capacity:
1240 MW.

Favorable conditions:
Availability of large amount of water. Location at broad gauge Delhi-Mumbai railway. Concentration of load. Constant water supply. Transmission and grid sub station are quit near.

KSTPS is designed in Five Stages

Basic Operation in Thermal Power Plant

Step wise operations in a thermal power plant are as follows: Coal is used as a fuel to boil the water. Water is boiled to form pressurized steam. Pressurized steam is the force that cause the turbine to rotate at a very high speed. Low pressure steam after pushing through the turbine ,its going into the condenser. Condenser the place where the steam is condensed back it its liquid form .Then the process is repeated.

Boiler Specification
1.TYPE: Water tube ,Pulverized fuel fired, Single drum type, tangential firing system 2. MAKE: BHEL

3. CAPACITY: 680tonnes/hour(210MW) 4. PRESSURE: 5.TEMPERATURE: 155Kg./cm2[G] 540 degree

First Stage/High Pressure Stage: Steam coming from the nozzle pushes against the blades and causes the shaft to turn. The steam gives up some of its energy in turning the blades and leaves the first stage at lower pressure and temperature. Second Stage/Intermediate Pressure Stage: Its activated by a reheated steam and gives up some more energy in turning the blades here. Third Stage/Low Pressure Stage: Here the same steam enters the stage at lower temperature and pressure. Exhaust steam enters condenser where it converts into water which is recycled for steam generation.

Steam Turbine
Turbine is a machine in which a shaft is rotated steadily by impact or reaction of current or stream of working substance (steam, air, water, gases etc) upon stationary and rotating blades mountedo n a common shaft and arranged in stages.

Turbo Generator
Generator is main part of Thermal Power Plant or any other power plant. A generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy (here steam energy) into electrical energy. A Turbo generator is mechanically combined with the Steam Turbine.

Ash Handling Plant

Electrostatic Precipitator (ESP). Chimney. Ash
Fly ash (80%). Used for making bricks and Cement. Bottom ash (20%) Used to improve fertility and making Roads. To collect ash two ponds of capacity 150 & 230 hectares are available

HOPPERS

Electrostatic Precipitator
To remove Fly Ash from flue gas electrostatic precipitator are used. Principle: Electrodes at high voltage create a corona effect(ionized atmosphere) surrounding them. This charges the passingparticles. Once charged, particles are subject to a transverseelectrostatic force that pulls them toward the collecting plates. Plates are periodically vibrated to make the collected particles fall down into a receiver basket

Switch Yard
Two 220 KV bus bars have been provided in switch yard and are inter-connected through a bus coupler. Each station transformer has two windings one secondary side and is rated for 50/25/25mva, 270/7/7.2 kva four feeder take off from 220 switch yard two to SKATPURA GSS and other to HEERAPURA, Jaipur GSS. Each of four feeder are provided with bypass isolators which is connected across line breaker and breaker isolator.
