The Author
Charlotte Bront was born in 1816 in a village in Yorkshire. Her father was the village clergyman and her mother died when she was five years old. In 1824 the four oldest sister went away to school. In the school Maria and Elizabeth became ill and died. In 1842 Charlotte and Emily went to Belgium to study. There Charlotte fell in love with the husband of the owner of the language school where she was studying. But she was lonely and unhappy, so she returned home.

The three sisters, Charlotte, Emily and Anne, continued to write. Anne wrote Agnes Gery and Emily wrote Wuthering Heights. Both books came out in 1847. Charlotte sent The Professor, a story about a young woman and a Belgian teacher, but the company did not like it. She then wrote Jane Eyre, and this story came out that same year, 1847. Charlotte was now famous, but terrible unhappiness followed. Her brother and sisters all died in 1848. She continued to write and she married to a young clergyman in 1854, but Charlotte died in March of the next year.

The Story
Janes parents died and she lived with her aunt and three cousins. She went to Mr Rochester to teach a little French girl. And she fell in love with Mr Rochester. In the wedding Mason told her that Mr Rochester had got a crazy wife. She left the house and St John accepted her. The man invited her to India, but Jane wanted to go back to her love. Meanwhile Jane inherited a lot of money. Finally she returned to Mr Rochester and they lived happily ever after.

Jane Eyre: She is the main character. Her childhood was difficult. However, she falls in love with her wealthy employer, Edward Rochester.

Main Characters

Mr Rochester: The master of Thornfield Manor. He is tricked into making an unfortunate first marriage before he meets Jane. Mason: An Englishman from the West Indies, whose sister is Mr. Rochester's first wife. St John: A clergyman who is Jane Eyre's cousin. Bertha: The violently insane first wife of Edward Rochester.

Historical Background
Charlotte wrote in this novel own experiences. For example:

She was born in a village like Jane. Her father was a clergyman like in the novel was St John. Jane was lonely and unhappy like Charlotte.

The rude Lowood boarding school, are derived from the author's own experiences. Helen Burns's death from tuberculosis recalls the deaths of Charlotte Bront's sisters Elizabeth and Maria. Finally, like Jane, Charlotte becomes a governess . Jane and Rochester are attracted to each other, but there are impediments to their love.

Moral
True love survives a lot of problems and difficulty. A poor girls life can become better.

My opinion
Im keen on romantic novels, so this book was very exciting and emotional for me. My favourite part is the end, when Jane goes back to Mr Rochester and their love is realized.
