I NTRO DUCTI O N :

This project deals with Analyzing and logging operations of clients on server files and folders across Network and providing information of operation performed using an Alert SMS sent using GSM Modem. The application will be monitoring the network when a client pursue to delete, access, modify, or copy a file on server directory. The application sends a SMS to admin mobile so that he can block the client.

The GSM Modem is integrated to this project to make it easy for admin who is located in remote place to get information about client activities.

O BJECTI VES :

Files on the server are more vulnerable of being modified, so an admin must keep constant watch on files/folders. This application monitors all the activities. Networks are built with a mix of computer hardware and software to interconnect using cables and hubs. In this system it is intended to allow clients to view or modify files but from admin permissions. We dont have to keep checking who is connected and at what time he his connect, these all information is logged at the server.

A DVANTAGES :

We can prevent people from harming server files and folders across network.

Alert mechanism using SMS gateway helps the admin to receive users action information without having to keep a constant watch on user action. The blocking and restricting mechanism allows admin from restricting users actions.
It automatically updates the new changes made.

A PPLI CATI O NS :

This tool can be implemented in any company where the network is huge and needs more than one administrator. This tool may be used where administrator is present in remote place.

E XI STI NG S YSTEM S :

Printer Monitor: This will monitor the usage of printer in the entire network. The commands sent to the printer will be displayed in an interface with source IP, user, command, no of pages, size etc. Internet Usage Monitor: The bandwidth usage of every client can be monitored separately. Client Monitor: This will monitor the applications running on the client.CPU , memory usage etc. in real time.By this details the network admin can determine upgrade requirements of client computers

W ORKI NG O F PROPOSED MODEL :

Admin person makes some files and folders in the server to be shared across the network. Network operation by clients such as copying, deleting, adding and accessing files are logged at the server and an alert message is sent to the admin. Admin can prevent or block the users from deleting or copying the file by using the server side part of our application or can send an SMS back to the server to block the user.
