The foundation of Czech traditions in

early childhood education had been laid by Comenius 200 years ago early childhood care started to become organized in Czech Republic

19th Century
The newly emergent institutions were

called child houses

They were divided into nurseries,

kindergartens and maternity schools

Maternity school
The first Czech maternity school was

founded in Prague in 1869 Maternity, nursery and crches schools were presented to the public free of charge

Nursery system in Czech

Jan Svoboda developed and implemented

a new concept of nursery operations in his first Czech nursery in 1832 He emphasized the basic elements of trivium (reading , writing and arithmetic ) In 1949, after world war II nursery schools grew up rapidly

The Czech childcare system

It is inspired by three well- known concepts

Svoboda concept provided harmonization

between physical and psychic aspects of child development

Frobel's concept is related to hands on activities French system contributed to the organizational structure

In 2004, the last transformation of nursery school was presented & it applied general curriculum
