The interim report of the Task Force on Direct Transfer of Subsidies has recommended direct transfer of subsidies on LPG, Fertiliser and Kerosene. Also a core subsidy management platform CMCS in a phased manner has been proposed. The report was submitted by Mr. Nandan Nilekani, the Chairman of the Task Force to the Finance Minister Mr. Pranab Mukherjee, in July, 2011. The government has launched a new Index of Industrial Production (lIP) in June 2011, which seeks to offer a better gauge of the countrys industrial activity.
