The Operator Chasm

Minimizing risks in Network Migration to All Packet

Challenge 1
Upgrading (swap) the network with minimal disruption to service

Challenge 2
Upgrades of base stations and backhaul are not coordinated in time

Challenge 3
Avoid costly equipment forklifts

Market is moving to packet backhaul

TDM will go from being present at 97% of cell sites at the end of 2010 to 84% at the end of 2012 and just 40% by the end of 2015 Packet backhaul will be rolled out to support 78% of the worlds cell sites by the end of 2015.

77% of these packet backhaul deployments, will be in pure packet mode by the end of 2015.

License Reuse/Reclaim

31

License Reuse/Reclaim
The needed steps for License Reclaim:

1. LMS User generates a new license LMS keeps the request, generated a new reduced license key 2. The IP-10 Web EMS User loads the new reduced license code to the IP-10 The IP-10 return with a validation key, and changes the licenses on the IP-10

3. LMS User feeds validation number into the LMS The user account will get credit for this downgrade and it can be reused on any other
IP-10

LMS

It can work for RMA too, but only if the IP-10 SW is still working

RADIUS Support

33

RADIUS Client Support

Provides centralized user management services Supports RADIUS server and provides a RADIUS client for authentication
and authorization User attempting to log into the system (CLI, WEB, SNMP):

If the RADIUS server is reachable

Server sends the appropriate user privilege to the IP-10, or Rejecting it If rejected, the user will be unable to log in

If the RADIUS server is unavailable, the IP-10 will attempt to authenticate

the user locally, according to the existing list of defined users
