one of the most important people in the modernist movement. brought forth works in painting, architecture, graphic design, industrial design. revolutionized each of these fields

learnt painting in Hamburg School of Applied Arts from 1886-1889 worked as a painter in Munich from 1890 produced woodcuts, colored illustrations, and book binding designs in 1987, collaborated with the Berlin journal, Pan, and produced his first furniture designs.

appointed in 1899 by the Grand Duke of Hesse, Ernst Ludwig. here, he designed his first contribution in terms of architecture. he designed his own house. designed everything in it too.

after designing this house, Behrens was now beginning to gain recognition in 1901-02, he started teaching at the Dusseldorf School for Applied Arts in 1906, he received his first commission from a reputed industry called AEG.

in 1910, he designed the AEG Turbine Factory in Berlin

In 1911-1913 the building was again redesigned in Neoclassical style. Adolf Hitler was very impressed by the design of the building The front faade was made of red granite completely The frontispiece resembled Ancient Greek Architecture Completed with 14 columns and pilasters
