Ted Livd
His surname is Devil backwards which pre empts the role he will play in the film. Dark, strong shadows cast over Ted a large amount of the time to reflect his moral ambiguity and fiendish intentions. It also adds a large element of enigma as we never really see his face in its true light, we never get to know Ted which avoids the audience empathising with him. The coat and hat portray him as a stereotypical powerful detective film noir style.

Ted is married to his job, he is intelligent and uses this to manipulate others around him. He is alone and has no friends or family . He is a bitter and twisted detective who his colleagues avoid working with. However he is one of the top detectives in the country gets the job done efficiently and effectively. He uses his position to his advantage and shows sign of moral corruption, due to this his employees fear him and keep him sweet to stay on his good side. His one true love Ruby left him with nothing and no one, if he cant have her, no one else can.

Ruby Navaeh
Beautiful Passionate Seductive Strong willed Ruby is the victim of the story, She is Kind hearted a kind hearted and strong willed woman that doesnt realise her affect Naive on the men around her. She is publicly naive to how her attention Innocence can make people feel which gives the impression she knows exactly what she is doing. She is a past lover of Ted Loving
Navaeh = Heaven backwards which suggests her innocence and purity. It also contradicts her first name Ruby as the colour red is passionate and seductive. This shows that she may not be all that she seems on the surface.

and to her they separated on amicable terms. She is now married to Teds arch enemy. Her beauty is her main ammunition, it gets her what she wants but she is modest to her charm, or so people think.

RED
Passion Seduction Love Lust Blood Anger Red represents the relationship between Ruby and Ted. It also suggests the power she has over men. It also pre empts her inevitable fate.

Costume
Ruby: Red Dress and high heels to heighten her sexuality and feminine features which gives her power over men. Her hair will be loose with curls to add to her femininity. Ted: Dark hat and Long dark coat, suggests secrecy and heightens enigma. The coat and hat act as a defence he never lets anyone in and never lets his guard down portrayed by his clothing which hides him from the world. Leather gloves are stereotypically used by criminals which gives added tension and mystery to Teds character.

Ted is similar to characters such as Harry Lime in the Third Man, his dress also resembles that of characters in Double Indemnity and Casino Royale. His corrupt persona can be likened to characters in The Untouchables and L.A. Confidential. The way he is feared and respected by his work colleagues is similar to The Godfather.

We will use a trilby hat, a suit and a long coat to create Teds character. We will use low key lighting to turn a standard office into a claustrophobic dingy police office. We will make old police files, police certificates to transform a business office into something more film noir style. We will use leather gloves and a vintage lamp, a long with a rope which will all be easy to get hold of.

Ruby has a similar persona to female characters seen in films such as Double indemnity in the way that she is known to use her feminine charm to get what she wants. She also has a sort of Bond Girl, dangerously seductive air about her. She appears to be the girl next door but that is just how she covers her dark intentions. This sort of split personality resembles a kind of Jekyll and Hyde theme. Ruby will be wearing a red dress and high heels, we will style her hair to be down and loose so it hangs femininely over her shoulders. She will be wearing a silver necklace and bracelet to make her appear sophisticated and well looked after by her husband. We will film Rubys scenes in a dark, dinghy multi storey car park which will heighten the enigma and suspicion of her murder. We will use the natural lighting of the car park to highlight the vast, empty space to make the location bleak and lonely similar to locations in film noir films such as The Third Man and thrillers such as Essex Boys.

PROPS

The police office we will create takes inspiration from the game L.A noire combined with some features seen in Casino Royale and Double indemnity. The office we will film in has venetian blinds which compliments the film noir theme perfectly. A long with hand made police files made to replicate real ones a long with a certificate congratulating Teds efforts to the forces will make the office similar to those seen in various film noir films.
