WHAT ARE TEXTILES?

IMAGINE THE WORLD WITHOUT TEXTILES

Some common answers..

KAIN BENANG PAKAIAN BATIK Etc.
ALL ANSWERS ARE CORRECT..BUT TEXTILES ARE MUCH MORE THAN THE ABOVE

Textiles are an integral part of our life

WHAT ARE TEXTILES?

Consider the following: When we wake up in the morning, we raised our heads from the pillows covered with fabric and filled with fibers. We climb out from the blanket that kept us warm and cozy during our sleep.

We step into slippers and slip into robes. We wash our bodies with washcloths and dry them with towels. We brush our teeth with toothbrushes; the bristles are synthetic textile fibers. We drink coffee or tea, and the coffee grounds and tea leaves are filtered through nonwoven textiles.

We dress in knits and woven apparel fabrics and put on the elastic socks that firmly fits our feet. When we get into a car, we sit comfortably on the seating fabric and the vehicle moves on with tyres reinforced with textile yarns. In emergency situations, we are protected by the seatbelts and airbags fitted in the vehicle.

We stand on carpets, sit on upholstered furniture, and look out of curtain (draped) windows in our living and working spaces. Our offices are fully air-conditioned which are filtered with nonwoven textile fabrics.

It can be seen that textiles are not just obvious products used for clothing and apparel but also the not so obvious products that we used everyday

Obvious textiles pillow sheet blankets dress apparel fabrics socks robes towell curtain carpets

Not so obvious textiles bedroom slippers bristles tea bags coffee filters seating fabrics tyre reinforcement seat belts airbags air-con filters
