Challenges: 1. Quantity of Open Excavation has been exceeded for open the inlet face which increase the time period of completion , to complete the construction of diversion tunnel with in the time period one additional adit proposed at RD-120m from Inlet face. 2. Diversion tunnel- Junction crown failure occurred due to encountered the clay layer between the rock mass during widening of junction. Proper support system has been designed and constructed. 3. Adit-II to HRT- Heavy Seepage encountered between RD-307 to 324 due to this loose fall occurred from 4m to 15m hence the reach was treated by providing proper drainage system. 2. Adit-II to HRT- Shear Zone encountered between the RD-415 to 421, the steel columns completely backfilled to arrest over break of loose mass and the alignment changed to avoid the shear zone. 3 Alignment of existing Adit to TRT has been changed to enhance the construction of TRT. 4 Additional Adit to TRT has been proposed to expedit the construction work of TRT. Specific Issues: 1. Power House has been changed from Surface (as in DPR) to Underground (as in Tender) at almost same cost due to shortage of muck disposal areas. 2. The Installed Capacity of the project has been changed from 990 MW to 1020 MW due to shifting of TRT outfall about 100 m D/s w.r.t. earlier location.
