Definitions
(from the Primary Teachers Collective Agreement) Short term relievers are fixed term employees who are temporarily employed on a casual basis to relieve in a permanent teacher position for a period not exceeding three weeks.
Includes day to day relieving Paid an hourly wage

Long term relievers are fixed term employees employed for a continuous period beyond three weeks.

Q3: 3yr teaching degree Q3+: Bachelors +teaching qualification, honours Q4: Double degree +teaching qualification, Masters Q5: PhD Relievers will progress from one salary step to the next after teaching for 190 days. This will be subject to satisfactory performance as attested by the principal at the school where the teacher was most recently employed.

Sick Leave

Part-time teaching sick leave is assessed on the basis that: 80 hours of teaching = one months service 1000 hours of teaching = one years service

The minimum amount of work you must do for a school to provide an advice and guidance programme is: 12.5 child contact hours per week. This is equal to 0.5 FTTE Blocks of six weeks minimum

FAQ from Teachers Council website: Q: I have two part time teaching positions at different learning centres. Can I combine my hours to meet the minimum time of 0.5 FTTE? A: Yes. You can only have one tutor teacher, and they must be able to observe you teaching at both schools. Again, you have to be at each of these schools for a minimum of six weeks.

Transport Allowance

If you are appointed for a position of up to 1 term (excludes day to day relieving), you are eligible for:
37c per km for a car for any distance further than 10kms
