MIS: Definition

A system which provides information support

to Decision making to control Business


Performance parameters.

A integrated IT enabled system for generating


information for supporting strategic, operational, and tactical decisions to be taken

by the users in the organization.

MIS design uses Control system concept.

MIS uses processed data, analyses it to generate information.


Information is analyzed and measured against predetermined business goals & performance targets. If significant deviation from the goal is seen, system highlights it for management to take decisive action. MIS enables organization to control business system to achieve business goals.
