Discrete Multi-Tone (DMT) was selected as the official line coding standard. Suitable for Internet access,VoD and Interactive Services which are actually asymmetric in nature. DSL is not a Line at all but a Modem technology. Typically a Modem Pair.

Initial Launch: MTNL Broadband Services will be available from 14th Jan. 2005 in the following four Exchange Area 1. Kidwai Bhawan 2.BCP 3. NP 4. OKH Next Phase
MTNL Broadband Services will be available in 40 Sitesimportant Telephone Exchanges/Areas of Delhi & Mumbai will be covered by Jan end/ middle of Feb.2005. Remaining areas of entire Delhi & Mumbai will be covered by March-April 2005. 35 Total No. of Ports 3.54 Lakhs in Delhi & Mumbai India/MTNL/Broadband Services/Jan 2005
