Brief Profile

There are approximately 250 stitching machines, 2 fusing machines, 2 over lock machines. The fabric checking, washing and embroidery work is done outside the company in udyog vihar itself. The sampling is done in the basement, stitching is done on 1st floor and finishing is done on 3rd floor. Indusmode is end up with all the brands and now they are launching their own eretailing brand called Colormode in the mid of September having all the collection of mens wear and womens wear.

Indusmode apparel is opening an apparel brand colormode. Colormode will be a e-retail website for the womens apparel. It will provide a vast range of products of latest fashion. it will include: party wear dresses casual dresses shirts skirts tops and tunics Company has decided that they will be having their showroom as well, where customer can go and look at product, they can try the garment but they can not buy it. For buying any product they have to place the order online.

Merchandising
They work closely with buyers and suppliers to monitor sales of current ranges and progress of ranges under development. Merchants activities include Setting financial goals, budgeting, making merchandising plans, planning size, planning fabric purchases, sourcing, scheduling production and deliveries, controlling product flow. In Indus Mode there is only one sheet with all the detailed specification is given by the buyer. Fabric is selected by the buyer & given to the company. For production fabric is checked for the wash shrinkage. According to the shrinkage pattern is again made by the pattern master. Then sample is made & send for the approval .Sample is also made of individual parts of shirt like collar , cuff , pocket ,placement of the logo in the pocket . merchandiser right now they are making shirts for color plus .Tech Pack Sheet, Measurements

SAMPLING DEPARTMENT
Sampling is in Basement of the factory. It is very important department as it has to churn out high quality garment for showing to the buyer and for fitting purpose within a short duration hence need to be highly organized. Consists of sampling master, pattern master, sampling tailor who needs to be highly skilled. The pattern master will make paper patterns for various sampling stages. Master checks out average consumption of the fabric, trims & according to the shrinkage of the fabric pattern is graded. Currently they are making patterns & doing sampling for the new range.

Cutting Department
There was lot of learning in the cutting department as they were working on stripes & check fabric .We have seen how the stripe & check fabric is cut. Fabric is layer on the cutting table then the pattern is placed on the layer margin is left all around the actual pattern for re cutting. Re cutting is done as per the requirement of the Individual pattern like front shirt block is cut by the cutting machine , then it is cut from between individually by the scissors straight flowing the stripe according to the particular color of stripe for the button hole & button placket . Then after attaching yoke to the back panel every single pc is cut individually placing the pattern for shoulder shape& neck shape. After making button placket & button hole placket, Front panel also cut individually placing the pattern. Problems & Disadvantages: While cutting stripes or check fabric there is lot of fabric wastage as extra fabric is needed for stripe& check matching. And cutting of this fabric is time consuming also. There are many chances of mistakes.

Project
I have worked as a designer at Indus mode apparel. There different task were given to us brands survey forecasting designing fabric sourcing etc. I have done brand survey of various brands like Zara, Veromoda, kazoo, forever new, next etc. I have done forecasting for women's wear autumn/winter 2012. I went to the Nehru place, Lajpat nagar and many other places for fabric sourcing. And then finally i designed women's wear garment like shirts, tops, dresses, tunics etc. for color mode.

Forecast I did the forecast for the autumn/winter 2012. Main focus of the forecast was womens wear. As per the requirement we have made forecast report, it includes color, fabric, print and silhouettes. Report was made by with the help of several websites (WGSN) and magazines.

Brand survey
Objectives of the brand survey To know about the recent trends To find what kind of merchandise is sellable knowing the target market and the competetiors To know what kind of the colors, cuts, silhouette, detailing, fabrics are in demand nowadays.

Fabric sourcing Concerned points during sourcing


Bring and search the desired fabric. Source the fabric according to the forecasting (what kind of fabricll be sellable in autumn/winter 2012) Search the fabric according to the companys product category.

Garment Designing
Garments were designed depending for the target customer. Target customer of the color mode is 16yr girls to 32yr women. It includes teenagers, college going, office going and home makers.

Quality policy of Indus mode apparel: Indus mode apparel dedicated to meet and fulfill customer requirement in garments making and also try to satisfy their employees. Indus mode will ensure sufficient training and suitable work to increase productivity and skills of the employees. This company always measure its performance in all areas from time to time and takes measure to continually improve quality, work environment and employee satisfaction. Aim To maximize profit while creating an environment in which we can provide the best value and best services to our customer, while developing to our maximum potential in a pleasant , clean and professional atmosphere.

Advantages: The company provided a healthy learning environment, making their interns work actively. All resources were provided to their interns Practical approach was given, to widen our horizon Limitations: Indusmode is a small organization, having only one head, i.e. one man army. The company is not well furnished yet, even the basic facilities are lacking. Because of untimely salary workers are not working efficiently. Facings major problems in final inspection. Shipment always crossed their dead lines. Company is not well structured, even the director is not able to handle all the departments.

Conclusion
I concluded that it is really important to satisfy the workers with appropriate salary and rewards, so that they can work happily and efficiently. One person cant handle all the departments there should be manager under the director to supervise the work of different departments.

Apart from this, training was a great experience for me and I got lot of opportunities to learn about the design process how it begins with the forecast and the way it comes to an end with the sampling of the products, the manufacturing process. So far, I have been learning theoretically but during the internship, I actually came across the working of garment manufacturing unit. The best thing we learned was professionalism, and practical approach to widen our horizon.
