Owners Requirement

Ship type: Water Taxi Capacity: 95 Passenger Speed: 14 knots Route: Sadarghat-Ashulia (29.5km)

OBJECTIVES
To

take advantage of Dhaka citys circular waterway To ease the water way communication with comfortable service To reduce the pressure on land transport. To safe people from horrible traffic jam To establish a modern transport system which is more safe, affordable, technologically dependable, environment friendly, and acceptable to all citizens of the country

DISPLACEMENT ESTIMATION
DEADWEIGHT (DWT) CALCULATION :

No of Person on board:
No of passenger = 95 No of crew = 4 Total = 99

Weight Allowance per person:

Weight per person = 75 kg Fresh water per person = 1 liter Luggage = 5 kg Total = 81kg

Fuel needed per voyage: 500 liter Store + Allowance : 1000 kg Total Weight :(95*81) + (500*.80) + 1000 = 32.495 tonnes Cargo: (95*5)=0.475 tonnes Allowance : 10 tonnes Deadweight : Total weight + Cargo+Allowance = (32.495+.475+10)=42.97tonnes

DISPLACEMENT ESTIMATION
LIGHT WEIGHT & DISPLACEMENT CALCULATION

Deadweight Coefficient :0.35(Assuming) Displacement :

= DWT / CD = (42.97 / 0.35) tonnes = 122.77 tonnes.

Lightship :

Light Weight = - DWT = ( 122.77 42.97) tonnes = 79.8 tonnes

Formula used in hydrostatic calculation

Water plane Area : In our lines plane we take total 11 Station. Multiplying the half ordinate of each station with the multipliers used in simpsons first rule we find total product for area. Then, Water plane area = 2 X hL/3 X total Product for area Displacement : In our lines plane we take total 4 water lines. After finding different water plane area we use 5,8,-1 rule, simpson,s first rule & simpsons second rule to find volume up to different water line. As our ship is an Inland waterways ship so Displacement is equals to volume. Volume up to water line 1 = 1/12 X hv X Total Product for volume (By using 5,8,-1 rule). Volume up to water line 2 = 1/3 X hv X Total Product for volume (Using Simpsons First rule). Volume up to water line 3 = 3/8 X hv X Total Product for volume (Using Simpsons Second rule). Volume up to water line 4 = 1/3 X hv X Total Product for volume

Formula Used in Hydrostatic Calculation:

Positions of Center of Buoyancy above keel ( KB ) : KB = Moment of Volume Displacement above base / Volume up to corresponding waterline Positions of Longitudinal Metacenter (BML) : BML = Moment of Inertia about center of flotation ( IL) / Displacement of volume

Moment to Change trim 1m ( MCT 1m ) :

MCT 1m = (IL X Displacement in ton ) / (LBP X Displacement in volume) Positions of Transverse Metacenter (BMT) : BMT = Transverse Moment of Inertia / Moment of Volume.

Formula Used in Hydrostatic Calculation:

Block Coefficient (CB): CB = Displacement in Volume / (LBP X B X draught at corresponding water plane.) Midship Area Coefficient (Cm) : Cm = Midship Section Area / (B X draught at corresponding water plane.)

Prismatic Coefficient (Cp) :

Cp = CB / Cm Water plane Coefficient (Cw) : Cw = Water plane Area / (B X L at corresponding

water plane.)
