History
O Began with just seven semi-illiterate ladies

and a borrowed sum of Rs. 80 O Founded in Girgaum, Mumbai on 15th March, 1959. O A small inconspicuous function of making 4 packets of papad started History and was later expanded into a co-operative.

O Jaswantiben Popat was in her twenties

when Lijjat was started. O She along with six others started Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad ( Lijjat ), it was registered as a cooperative under her leadership. O Always believed in providing work that led to self dignity for women.

Introduction
O Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad ,

popularly known as Lijjat O Indian women s cooperative involved in manufacturing of various FMCG products. O Lijjat has an annual turnover of around Rs. 650 crore , with Rs. 29 crore in exports (As of 2010). O It provides employment to around 42,000 people .

O Lijjat is headquartered in Mumbai and has

67 branches and 35 divisions all over India. O Registered under the KVIC Act- ( Khadi & Village Industries Commission). O Follow the Gandhian principles of trusteeship or Sarvodaya . O Sanchalikas act as the branch managers.
