Obesity

energy intake continuously exceeds energy expenditure

fundamental chronic energy imbalance

( Manson JE ET AL, 2004)

BMI(BODY MASS INDEX)

simple index of weight-for-height Classifies overweight and obesity in adult populations and individuals kg/m2 Overweight > 25 Obesity > 30

( WHO Media Centre.2008)

2005 approximately 1.6 billion adults = overweight 20 million children (< 5 yrs) = overweight > 400 million adults = obese by 2015,

approximately 2.3 billion adults = overweight; >700 million will be obese Hypothesis 1. BMI correlates with ones blood lipids 2. There are differences in male and female in term of obesity.

Cross sectional study

computer generated coding system (150 male and 150 female)

CLINICAL MEASUREMENT

Body weight (kg) and body height (m) of students were measured using Digital scale and stadiometer. Waist circumference and hip of students were taken to nearest 0.1 cm.

Blood pressure was taken from nondominant arm using blood pressure device.

Blood samples were collected after 12 hours fasting for measurement of FPG,TC, TG, And L-C.

Laboratory Analysis
All blood samples were kept in ice at 0 C.

Cholesterol and triglyceride levels were measured by enzymatic assay with VP analyzer. Serum lipoprotein levels were assayed by using heparin-calcium precipitation and agarose electrophoresis.

Plasma glucose levels were measured by glucose oxidase method.

Factor VII Coagulant Assay

Blood was drawn between 8 a.m and 12 noon from participants (fasted overnight).

5ml of blood was placed in vacuum tubes containing 3.8% of Sodium citrate and repeated inversion.

Blood was centrifuged at 3000xg for 20 minutes at 4C.

Serum was assayed with factor VII ELISA test.

Statistical Analyses
The standardized BMI threshold and waist circumference was calculated using LMS regression (p<.05)

ROC curves used to identify and predicted the elevated risk cluster-group.

The area under ROC curves were calculated and null hypothesis was tested with P<0.5

Data were conducted with SPSS version 16.

Expected Result
1. BMI , FPG , TC , TG , LDL and HDL. 2. Waist circumference , FPG , TC , TG , LDL and HDL. 3. BMI and Waist circumference , Factor VII .
