Buddhism
Siddhartha Gautama Sakya

The Buddha: One who awakes to the sense

of truth in others. Was basically a practical thinkerhe was not really concerned with metaphysical issues. His concern was primarily with life and happiness.

Life is Suffering
Why?

Many think that youth,

health and wealth are important. But, eventually, old age, sickness, and finally death will catch up with all of us. It is fear of these that makes us unhappy, that is, causes us to suffer.

Four Noble Truths.

These are the heart of Buddhism.
1. Life is suffering 2. Desire causes suffering 3. Ending desire ends suffering 4. Following the noble eight fold

path ends desire.

The Eight Fold Path

Right Belief (views) Right aspiration (intention) Right speech Right conduct (action) Right means of Livelihood Right endeavor (effort) Right mindfulness Right meditation (concentration)

If whishes were horses, beggars would ride.

Reality:
No dualism. No separate subject and object. All is One. Right acting is recognizing this in all that

we do.
