Introduction
The Commissionerate of Employment & Training, CET is working under the Department of Labor and Employment, Government of Gujarat. CET functions with the major objectives of providing Vocational Training and Employment Services to the youths in Gujarat State. To achieve these objectives the CET runs a variety of longterm and short-term training programs in Industrial Training Institutes/ Centers in the State. As has been widely recognized, the vocational skills can help in improving the employability of the jobseekers. Therefore, they are also advised to use the information on Vocational Training available under Craftsman Training Scheme and Apprentice Training Scheme.

Training Programs Offered


Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) : The main objective of this scheme is to provide semi-skilled workmen to industries. This scheme is implemented in the State through 263 Government owned Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) having 1,04,473 sanctioned seats, 126 Grant-in-Aid Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) & 314 Self Financed ITCs. Every year, in the months of July and February, the NCVT conducts All India Trade Test and successful trainees are awarded National Trade Certificates (NTCs). These certificates are very useful for the employment in the country as well as abroad. For the State level courses the Trade Test is conducted by the Gujarat Council for Vocational Training (GCVT) and Gujarat State Trade certificate is issued for the same.

Apprentice Training Scheme (ATS) Object of this scheme is to provide an opportunity to the jobseeker or the semi-skilled graduate from ITI/ ITC to get on-the-job training as an apprentice in an industrial environment having production/ service based activities. Presently, more than 25,000 seats have been allotted in over 5000 Industrial Establishments in Gujarat under this scheme. Advance Vocational Training Scheme (AVTS) In order to keep pace with the rapid changes in the production technologies and modern equipment's employed by the industries; it becomes necessary to upgrade the skills of the existing workers on a continuing basis, Advance Vocational Training Scheme has been introduced.

Training of world class multi skilled workforce through CENTRE OF EXCELENCE The main objective of the scheme is to upgrade existing ITIs into " Centre of Excellence" for producing multi-skilled workforce of world standard by : I. Introduction of new multi-skilling modular courses as per needs of industry and to provide employable skills. II. Adoption of new training technology with close involvement of industry and other stakeholders in planning and implementation of training programs. III. Building up partnership with near by industries and setting up of Institute Management Committees (IMC) to make training wholly demand driven. COE.docx

Difference between Regular & COE

Hires fresh craftsmen trainees from various ITIs Across Gujarat in trades like Fitter, Machinist , Turner, Welder , COE-Fabrication ,Electrician Reliance Industries Ltd.-Hires Fresh craftsmen trainees in trades like Fitter, instrumentation, Welder , etc. 60-80% of manpower build-up in workmen category is done through ITI hiring.

Hiring Cycle
Every year, in the months of July and February, the NCVT conducts All India Trade Test and successful trainees are awarded National Trade Certificates (NTCs). These certificates are very useful for the employment in the country as well as abroad Need to start hiring process from March/December every year Recruited craftsmen trainees can come on board by August/March
