reprogrammed every time. GSM based display board is truly wireless and efficient. This remote control of appliances is possible through Embedded Systems. For Enquiries we need to contact office and follow given procedure. GSM based Enquiry makes our world simple and acts as a time saver as everyone has mobile with themselves.

NEED & OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT

O Wireless communication has announced its

arrival on big stage and the world is going mobile. O We want to control everything and without moving an inch. O The project mainly focuses on transmission of textual data through air interface by the use of GSM through asynchronous serial communication. The data will be processed by the microcontroller & microprocessor on both ends.

Division of Project
O Notice Board Display
O Library Enquiry O General representation:

GSM BASED NOTICE BOARD

Description of hardware

GSM MODEM

Working of Notice Board Display

O In this, the system will work, whenever the user

wants to display or update the notice board at destination end. O The user will have to send the message, to the number of the SIM which is inserted in the MODEM. O Then the MODEM will receive the SMS & will send the same to the Microcontroller, through visual basic program . It will read the message from serial port. O It will check for the authentication of the user and if OK then the notice will be displayed on the board and the user in returns will get the confirmation.

LIBRARY ENQUIRY

Cell phone

GSM Module

Computer (Microprocessor)

Working for Library Enquiry

O Here, the user will send a message to a given no., for an

Enquiry about say library, the book name or Author name or any other such kind of ENQUIRIES.
O A new message will be received by the Modem and will be

passed to the computer, for its Processing.

O In this Computer will scan the followed text and choose

appropriate file, in which student may be interested. The message is sent to respective Student No., immediately containing information user wanted.

SOFTWARE USED
O

O O

O O

Visual Basic 6.0 Visual Basic (VB) is an event driven programming language and associated development environment from Microsoft for its COM programming model. KEIL u-Vision It acts as a compiler, in which the program is written in .C format. It also helped in converting the .C format into hex format. Flash Magic: For Burning the Microcontroller. This software, was used for serial communication purpose.

CONCLUSION

and anytime. One do not need to connect the digital display to computer or laptop for reprogramming. The prototype can be implemented using commercial display boards. In this case, it can solve the problem of instant information transfer in the campus. We can enquire using same setup with changing some algorithm. When we do enquiry an immediate response is obtained.

Future scope For ENQUIRY

O In the project we are going to show basic

thing like to enquire about books availability in library. O This concept is widely applicable in government sector to get position of any document under process. O This will help to simplify government processes in peoples view.

Future Scope for DISPLAY

O Now the messages are displayed in scrolling

mode only, in future one can add so many designs so that user can send style command with message he/she wants to display the messages. O We can also add one more concept that user can send 10 messages at a time with different styles. O Multilingual display can be another added variation of the project. O Graphical display can also be considered as a long term but achievable and targetable output.
