BOARD OF ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 01 SERIES OF 2011

PROMULGATION OF THE SYLLABI/TABLE OF SPECIFICATION FOR THE SUBJECTS IN THE BOARD LICENSURE EXAMINATION FOR ELECTRONICS TECHNICIANS (ECT)

WHEREAS, Section 15, Article III of Republic Act No. 9292, An Act Providing for a More Responsive and Comprehensive Regulation For the Registration, Licensing and Practice of Professional Electronics Engineers, Electronics Engineers and Electronics Technicians, Repealing Republic Act No. 5734, Otherwise Known as the Electronics and Communications Act of the Philippines, states that the subjects to be given in the said examination shall be prescribed by the Board and shall cover subjects specific to the practice of Electronics Technicians:

WHEREAS, Sec. 9 (h) of R.A. No. 8981, known as the PRC Modernization Act of 2000 provides to wit: (h) To prepare, adopt and issue the syllabi or tables of specifications of the subjects for examinations in consultation with the academe; determine and prepare the questions for the licensure examinations which shall strictly be within the scope of the syllabus or table of specifications of the subjects for examination x x x x;

WHEREAS, the Board held a consultative meeting with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for the preparation of the syllabi on the subjects for the licensure examinations for Electronics Technician;
WHEREAS, the said syllabi are the bases for the test questions that will be inputted into the computer test question bank;

NOW, THEREFORE, the Board RESOLVES, as it is hereby RESOLVED, to prescribe, promulgate, and issue Syllabi/Table of Specification for the Subjects in the Board Licensure Examination for Electronics Technicians (ECT), an integral part of this Resolution (Annex A);

FURTHER, RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall first be implemented in the April 2011 Board Licensure Examination for Electronics Technicians;
FURTHERMORE, RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect after fifteen (15) days following its full and complete publication in the Official Gazette, or any newspaper of general circulation in the Philippines and

FINALLY, RESOLVED, that copy of this resolution be furnished to CHED for circularization to all schools, colleges, and universities offering the course of electronics technicians. Done in the City of Manila, this 9th day of February, 2011.

SYLLABI FOR THE ELECTRONICS TECHNICIANS LICENSURE EXAMINATION


A. Technical Subjects (90%)
Basic Mathematics : Simple calculation and application of Arithmetic, Algebra and Geometry.

Ohms Law: Calculations for Resistance, Current, Voltage and Power for AC and DC Circuits

Electronic/Electrical Machine or Equipment: Description and operating principles of Motors, Generators, transformers, consumer Electronics appliances, computers, Electronic and communication Equipment, etc.

Test Equipment: Types and Uses of measuring instruments such as voltmeter, ohmmeter, ammeter, multimeter, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, clamp meter, capacitance meter, LCR meter, EMF meter, Electrometer, cable tester, transistor tester, continuity tester, etc.

Electronic/Electrical Component: Identification, Uses, functions of resistors, trimmer, rheostat, heater, thermistor, varistor, Capacitors, varicap, transistors, inductor, Integrated circuits, sensors, diodes, Fuses, relays, switches, reed switch, thermostat, circuit breaker, limit switch, etc.

Maintenance and Repair: Description of the procedures in the Maintenance of Electrical/Electronic

B. Laws and Ethics (10%)

QUALIFICATION FOR ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN LICENSURE EXAMINATION


Section 14. Qualification for the Electronics Technician examination. 1.0 He/She is a graduate of an Associate, Technician, Trade or Vocational course in electronics or,

subject to the evaluation of the Board, such equivalent and/or related formal or non-formal course or program from any school, college, university or training institution recognized by the government or the State where it is established after completing a resident course or program of not less than two (2) years, or

a) In lieu of the resident course or program of not less than two (2) years, a certificate from TESDA of at least NCII category may be accepted, or

b)

A certificate from PECE attesting his/her proficiency in Electronics Technician practice in the field for at least two (2) years in; 1) Consumer Electronics 2) Mechatronics, Robotics and Industrial Automation 3) Instrumentation and Control 4) Computer 5) Broadcast

2.0 Has completed at least the minimum third-year equivalent of a Bachelor of Science program in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Electronics Engineering program according to CHED guidelines, or

subject to the evaluation of the Board such equivalent and/or related engineering course or program from any school, institute, college or university recognized by the Government or State where it is established such as; a) B.S. Electrical Engineering b) B.S. Computer Engineering c) B.S. in Industrial Technology Major in Electronics
