What is Bullying?

Bullying is when a person is picked on over and over again by an individual or group with more power either in terms of physical strength or social standing.

Bully is someone who uses their strength or power to hurt or frighten other people

What is House Bill 5494?


House Bill 5494 or the Anti-Bullying Act of 2012 was approved on May 2012 requiring all elementary and secondary schools to adapt anti-bullying policies

OBJECTIVE
To observe and promote zero tolerance on any act of child abuse, exploitation, violence, discrimination, bullying and other forms of abuse in school.

1.Physically small, unpopular, weak. 2.Low confident level. 3.Unfriendly. 4.Unwillingness to go to school. 5.Loneliness. 6.Low academic performance. 7.Bad tempered.

How to be prevent being bullied


Stay away from places which you believe bullying might happen.
Ex. Back areas of H.E. building, plaza

Walk away and find a teacher or adult and inform them immediately about the incident.

Go home immediately after dismissal. Do not stay in the plaza or places where only a few are passing by.
Intervene immediately when bullying is observed.

For teachers: Record the bullying incident/s of your pupils in your anecdotal record following the format below.

Three main types of bullying

1.Physical 2.verbal 3.Indirect 4.Cyberbullying

Physical bulling involves real bodily contact between a bully and his/her victim.

Some examples of physical actions. Attacking / hitting Kicking Stealing / Taking other belongings Punching Shoving Slapping Spitting Scratching Teasing Sexual harassment

Verbal bullying is a type of hostility or aggression which can happen with children or adults

This types of bullying is using WORDS for examples:

Name-calling Teasing Insulting Threatening Racist remarks Homophobic jokes

This type of bullying is SPREADING WORDS and other NASTY STORIES about someone indirectly. for examples:

Spreading rumors Isolating individual from social group activities

Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying is done by sending messages, pictures, or information using electronic media, computers (email & instant messages), or cell phones (text messaging & voicemail). For instance, if you sent a picture of a snake in an email to a person because you know that they are afraid of snakes, that would be an example of cyberbullying.

Why should a school be free from bullying?


Students should have the right to feel safe in their school. When they feel threatened or harassed, they will:
-tend to be an unhappy child

-often try to avoid school -suffer from fear and anxiety -low self esteem -high incidence of suicidal or selfdestructive behavior

What if a pupil is involved in bullying?


First offense: Conference with parents Second Offense Suspension from Classes

Third Offense Fine of not less than P500.00 and not more than P20,000.00.

Bullying is not allowed in this school

Lets make our school a bully-free.
