Blueberries are perennial flowering plants with indigo-colored berries in the section Cyanococcus within the genus Vaccinium (a genus that also includes cranberries and bilberries). Species in the section Cyanococcus are the most common fruits sold as "blueberries" and are native to North America (commercially cultivated highbush blueberries were not introduced into Europe until the 1930s). They are usually erect, but sometimes prostrate shrubs varying in size from 10 centimeters (3.9 in) to 4 meters (13 ft) tall. The leaves can be either deciduous or evergreen, ovate to lanceolate, and 18 cm (0.393.1 in) long and 0.53.5 cm (0.201.4 in) broad. The flowers are bell-shaped, white, pale pink or red, sometimes tinged greenish. The fruit is a berry 516 millimeters (0.200.63 in) in diameter with a flared crown at the end; they are pale greenish at first, then reddish-purple, and finally dark blue when ripe. They have a sweet taste when mature, with variable acidity. Blueberry bushes typically bear fruit in the middle of the growing season: fruiting times are affected by local conditions such as altitude and latitude, so the height of the crop can vary from May to August depending upon these conditions.

Chamomile (Matricaria recutita L.), in the Aster family (Asteraceae) is native to southern and eastern Europe and western Asia. The daisy-like flower has white petals, a yellow center, and an apple-like fragrance. Chamomile has been used since the Roman era and its name is derived from the Greek, meaning "ground apple". Traditionally, chamomile has been used to prevent stomach spasms in digestive disorders. In addition, it has been used as a skin wash to cleanse wounds and topical ulcers. Chamomile was also used to treat diarrhea, toothache, and bleeding and swollen gums. In the form of a compress, chamomile was used to treat gout, skin problems, and inflammation. It has also been used as a soothing, mild sedative, and was considered a preventative for nightmares. Currently, chamomile is used as an anti-inflammatory agent, an astringent, and as a catalyst in wound healing. Chamomile has also been approved by the German Commission E in the treatment of skin and mucous membrane inflammations, bacterial skin diseases (including the oral cavity and gums), inflammations of the respiratory tract, and internally to treat spasms and inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract. Studies have shown that children treated with chamomile had significant reduction in the duration of diarrhea.

Dandelion

The dandelion is the only flower that represents the 3 celestial bodies of the sun, moon and stars. The yellow flower resembles the sun, the puff ball resembles the moon and the dispersing seeds resemble the stars. The dandelion flower opens to greet the morning and closes in the evening to go to sleep. Every part of the dandelion is useful: root, leaves, flower. It can be used for food, medicine and dye for coloring. Up until the 1800s people would pull grass out of their lawns to make room for dandelions and other useful weeds like chickweed, malva, and chamomile. The average American recognizes thousands of logos for commercial products, yet recognizes fewer than five plants that grow in his/her area. Dandelions are most likely one of those familiar plants. The name dandelion is taken from the French word dent de lion meaning lions tooth, referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves. Dandelions have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant. Seeds are often carried as many as 5 miles from their origin! A not so fun fact: Every year Americans spend millions on lawn pesticides to have uniform lawns of non-native grasses, and we use 30% of the countrys water supply to

Eucalyptus

Eucalyptus trees that grow in California originally come from seeds brought over from Tasmania. Australians often call eucalyptus trees gum trees or just gums. Eucalyptus leaves produce eucalyptus oil, which is used as a vapour rub for treating colds. The most important tree grown for oil is the blue mallee or blue gum. Blue gum trees are the most widespread in North America. Some eucalyptus trees give Botany Bay kino, a resin used to protect ships against worms and other animals that make holes in their hulls. The jarrah is an Australian eucalyptus that gives a red wood rather like mahogany. Other eucalyptus woods are used to make everything from boats to telegraph poles. Eucalyptus trees can grow to over 90 m tall taller than any trees but Californian redwoods.
