DIARRHEA

DEFINITION

Diarrhea is an inflammation of the stomach, small intestine and large intestine with a variety of pathologic conditions of the gastrointestinal tract with the manifestation of diarrhea, with or without vomiting, and abdominal discomfort.

SYMPTOMS OF DIARRHEA
Nausea and vomiting may precede diarrhea caused by viral invection. Infection can suddenly cause diarrhea, vomiting, bloody stools, fever, loss of appetite or lethargy. Here are other symptoms of diarrhea: 1. Vomiting 2. Body lethargic or weak 3. Fever 4. No appetite 5. There is blood or mucus in feces

CAUSES

Various factors that cause diarrhea, such as factors of infection, malabsorption, food, and psychological. Diarrhea caused by infection with the enteral tract infections are a major cause of diarrhea in children. Enteral infections include: infectious bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Malabsorption can cause diarrhea is malabsorption of carbohydrate, fat, or protein. Allergies to food, eating spoiled food or poison can also cause diarrhea. Psychological conditions that can cause diarrhea is fear and anxiety, but it rarely causes diarrhea in children

PREVENTION

Precautions against transmission of diarrhea and by maintaining personal hygiene or public especially the food and the environment for the family and the community.

TREATMENT

Because of the danger of diarrhea is dehydration so overcome on the way to prevent the onset of dehydration and rehydration of dehydrated intense when it occurs. Oral dehydration fluid used by the public is coconut milk, water, starch, milk of Mother, salt sugar solution. fluid consumption is more emphasis on prevention of dehydration, whereas in case of moderate or severe dehydration should be given to drink ORS. ORS is one option to prevent fluids and treat dehydration. ORS is equipped with an electrolyte, so it can replace electrolytes lost with the liquid.
