QUESTION
Select one traditional game under the social and cognitive play categories. Compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of the chosen game. Explain its importance from the intellectual, socio-emotional and physical aspects of child development. Demonstrate your understanding of any of the traditional games. Present in graphic form.

SELECTED TRADITIONAL GAME: LONG POLE (Galah Panjang)

INTRODUCTION
Galah Panjang is a game traditionally played on a court drawn on a vacant land. The tennis made contains two columns and several rows depending on the numbers of players. For example, if there are 10 players, tennis made consist of four lines. If there is 8 players, tennis consist of three lines. The game involves the expertise of a leader to control movement on behalf of the others in the control field.

HOW TO PLAY

Just before the game started, the head of the attacking team will be applauded as captain. This marked the game is underway and crew can start attacking. Each player must clear all the lines to the back of the line and return to the front lines without being caught by the defending team. If one is caught by the defending team then the team considered dead. Both team exchange position for another match.

RULES OF THE GAME


All players will be calculated off the attacking team if one of them is caught by defending team player.
Attacking team player can not retreat back after crossing the line in the ring. Attacking team will be considered dead if there are players out of the field lines. The attacking team wins if one of his players gets past all the lines back to the starting point. One point is awarded to the team and the game will run again. Any team that can accumulate the highest points will be calculated to win the leg.

Players might get injured while playing although not serious

Need quite a number of players
