Aims
1. To further consolidate the national education system for the young generation in accordance with the countrys aspirations to make Malaysia as a center of excellence for education.

2. To outline the legislation related to education

Legislative Provisions of this act are


1. The NPE which was proclaimed in 1988 and forms the

underlying basis.
2. The concept of NPE includes the following All levels of education. All categories of schools

Primary & Secondary - Public exam is compulsory. - Islamic Education as a core subject to all Muslims.

- Allocation for Special Education.


- Continuation of Quo for SRJK ,60 private schools . - Teaching of Indigenous language, Religious classes.

Technical and Vocational


- Improvement of technical education. - Vocational to Technical Schools. - Collaboration of polytechnic - Twinning programs with local and foreign institutions

Teacher Training - Diploma and Degree via twinning program

Tertiary Education
- Establishment of private colleges and universities. - Corporatization of existing universities - Teaching of National Language, Islamic and Moral subject in private institutions

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY


It is based on the Education Act 1996 Contain the policy statements and the implementations strategies that serves as a guidelines.

GOALS OF THE NATIONAL EDUCATION


1. To produce a united Bangsa Malaysia 2. To produce Malaysian citizens who are

- Provide the primary education for 6yrs old children for 6 years. - Introduce the national curriculum for all pupils. 3M is priority. - Established a strong foundation for critical subjects

SECONDARY EDUCATION
- Provide appropriate schooling after they completed their primary schooling. - Establish an integrated curriculum which emphasize on the subjects like Science,Maths,ICT

SPECIAL EDUCATION - Provide educational opportunities for special education. TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION - Consolidate these educations so we could produce the technicaloriented students. POLYTECHNICS - Increase the number of middle workers esp. in Engineering and Professional Management.

TERTIARY EDUCATION

- Enhance the higher education for those in 19-24 by increasing the number of institutions.

- Make our country as the center of education in this


region.

Aim : to ensure that we are not going to be left out in the era of globalisation. What say you?

COMPULSORY EDUCATION
It is compulsory for parents who are residing in Malaysia to send their kid who have reached 6 yrs of age for schooling. 6 years of duration for primary schooling. Failure on the part of any parents to do so? - RM5,000 or a prison < 6 months

STATUS OF CHINESE AND TAMIL LANGUAGE


April 2005, both languages were made and elective subject. Why? - Inadequate number of pupils in Government schools. - Increase in number of non-Chinese pupils in Chinese vernacular schools.

SMART SCHOOLS
Rationale - In line with our countrys aspirations to achieve the Vision 2020 . - Keep pace with the development of science and technology. - Promote the development of workforce prepared to meet the challenges of the next century.

Concept

BASIC READING AND WRITING CLASSROOM INTERVENTION PROGRAM (KIA2M)

Background : the problem of students failure to master basic reading and writing

skill.
Conducted by Malay language teachers for 6 months.

Aims of the project : 1. To assist the year 1 students to master the basic

reading and writing skills in Malay language.


2. To give chances for students to learn according to their ability levels.

Target group:
- The year 1 pupils who need remediation. - Compulsory for SK and optional for SRJK. Manpower: - Year 1 Malay language teachers
