Creativity

Definition
Creativity: A process of assembling ideas by recombining elements already known but wrongly assumed to be unrelated to each other. This definition has several key elements that are worth considering: Process: Creativity is also a process (implying, among other things, that it is more like a skill than an attitude, and that you can get better at it with practice) Ideas: Creativity results in ideas that have potential value Recombining: The creative process is one of putting things together in unexpected ways

Creativity is seeing what everyone sees and thinking what no one else has thought before Creativity Examples:

Examples of creativity include a scientist who develops a theory to explain human behavior, a musician who writes original songs that are enjoyed by many people, and a writer who writes a book that provide new ideas for fundraising.

Points to develop Idea

The idea should have value and benefits. Any idea which at an early stage suggests large benefits is always worth hearing and pursuing. An idea which immediately seems practical is always attractive. A simple idea is always attractive. Not every idea has to be universal. There may be niche ideas which serve that particular niche very well.

Developing Ideas
Ideas develop exponentially. The more ideas you have, the more ideas you will generate.
To give you clearer picture of the exponential effect, here are the numbers :
3 ideas generate 4 new ideas.

4 ideas generate 11 new ideas.

5 ideas generate 26 new ideas. 6 ideas generate 57 new ideas. 7 ideas generate 120 new ideas.

Steps to develop Ideas

Develop multiple passions Be observant Always write down you the ideas you get Review your ideas regularly

we often cannot anticipate when an idea will come

Twitter
Jack Dorsey is an American software architect that had an interest in making instant messenger updates available for friends to see. This was a refined concept that eventually grew into what we now know as Twitter. Three guiding principles of this innovative idea are simplicity, constraint and craftsmanship. Jack had an early fascination with cities and how they work, so he would always carry maps around with him. His attraction with mass-transit and how cities function led him to taking advantage of public transit databases in Manhattan. He built off of his original idea that gave meaning to his overall concept. His idea make clear though working on dispatch software, programming real-time messaging systems for couriers, taxis, and emergency vehicles.

Examples for innovation

Frank Eppersons Juice on a Stick Frank Epperson was an average American who at a young age discovered a frozen drink on a stick that would later become an innovative idea. At the age of 11 Frank Epperson invented the Epsicle that is now known as the Popsicle. He was mixing powdered soda with water to make soda pop and accidentally left the mixing bucket outside on an unusually cold night. During the night the mixture froze solid, with the wooden stirring stick standing straight up.

Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking (TTCT).
