It consists of :1) Basic physiological needs 2) Safety or security needs 3) Social needs 4) Esteem and status needs 5) Self fulfillment needs

This needs include food, shelter, cloth, water, sleep. Its must be satisfied before other needs. Satisfaction of such needs is essential for maintaining human life. Also known as survival needs. Example In an organisation, physiological needs of his employees by offering goods salary and good working condition.

It include physical safety against danger (fire, accident) & economic safety against old age, sickness. In an organization an employee can satisfy safety needs of his employees by offering job security, providing pension to employees.

Man is social in nature. He needs love, affection, friendship with others. An individual creates a family and friends. In organization it can be satisfied by encouraging team building and providing opportunities for social job.

These needs embraces such things as self confidence, independence, achievement, competence, knowledge and success. They are concerned with prestige and status of the individual.

Organization can satisfy these needs by offering challenging jobs, recognizing good performance, providing good job titles etc.

These implies the desire to become what one is capable of becoming. Self fulfillment needs refers to grow and self fulfillment. A manager may provide opportunities for continuous learning, encourage creativity, grant independence to employees to satisfy their self fulfillment needs.

Hygiene factors are based on the need to for a business to avoid unpleasantness at work. If these factors are considered inadequate by employees, then they can cause dissatisfaction with work. Hygiene factors include: - Company policy and administration - Wages, salaries and other financial remuneration - Quality of supervision - Quality of inter-personal relations - Working conditions - Feelings of job security

Motivator factors are based on an individual's need for personal growth. When they exist, motivator factors actively create job satisfaction. If they are effective, then they can motivate an individual to achieve above-average performance and effort. Motivator factors include: - Status - Opportunity for advancement - Gaining recognition - Responsibility - Challenging / stimulating work - Sense of personal achievement & personal growth in a job
