VOLLEYBALL GAME
is a team sport played by two teams of six players in a playing court. The objective of the player is to send the ball over the net to the ground of the opponents court.
Skills in Volleyball:
1. Serving play
is started by a serve from behind the end boundary of the court. The serve must go over the net on the first serve or attempt. a. the underhand serve b. the overhead punch serve
2. Spiking
is a bit hard which sends the ball directly downward over the top the net into the opponents court. The spike is made with an open hand by hitting the ball with the heel by of the hand with a quick whip action of the shoulder, arm and hand.
The Game
the players are divided into two teams. The players to each team are assigned places covering two 18 by 20 by feet neutral area. Team members are numbered consecutively for turns at serving the ball.
A. First Referee
one side of the court in line with the halfway line opposite the net post. Heads officials the game. Manages the match from the beginning to the end. Make the final decision and changes other official decision if needed. Changes erring officials. Implements the rules as stated in the rulebook and the other rules in relation to the game. Decides whether the court is playable or not.
First Referee
Before the match
Inspect the court and the equipment if they are ready and in proper condition.
Tosses the coin to start the match. During the match Admonishes both teams not to delay the game.
Decides when service is to be made, the position of players, the faults in the game.and faults committed above the net.
B.Second Referee
stands on the opposite side of the court, facing the first referee. assists the first referee as follows: supervises the scorer manages the players seated on the bench authorizes and administers time-outs and substitution . checks the condition of the court and the ball checks if the players are properly positioned at the beginning of the game and during change of court.
C. Scorer
Sits alongside the second referee, facing the first referee Records the data needed in the match and gets the signatures of the coach and the captain ball before and after the match Lists the line-up of both teams on a sheet.
Scorer
During the game: a. records points scored by either team b. supervises service rotation c. records time outs and substitutions d. informs the firs referee about the end of a set after the game
Record the result of the match Signs the score sheet and presents it to the team captains and officials of the match for their signature.
D. Linesmen
the ball is either inside or outside. the receiver holds the ball. foot faults are committed by the server.
