Systematic identification and location and analysis of documents concerning information related to the research problem.

To find out what has already been done on the topic and the perspective of methods and to find out problems, which remain unsolved. Prevents duplication of work Identifies what the researcher takes to be key issues, the crucial questions and the obvious gaps in the current state of knowledge. It forms the foundation upon which all future work in this area will be built

It serves to introduce readers to the findings relating to your research question and to justify the need for your project. It forms early chapters of a research report for the orientation of the reader and prevents pointless repetition of research It helps the researcher to know in detail all related research projects in progress but not yet reported

Factors affecting the performance of maternal health care providers in Armenia. http://www.human-resourceshealth.com Background: Over the last five years, international development organizations began to modify and adapt the conventional Performance Improvement Model for use in low-resource settings. This model outlines the five key factors believed to influence performance outcomes: job expectations, performance feedback, environment and tools, motivation and incentives, and knowledge and skills. Each of these factors should be supplied by the organization in which the provider works, and thus, organizational support is considered as an overarching element for analysis.

Inclusion criteria: registered nurses, working the day shift. Exclusion criteria: nursing assistants, registered nurses that work the night shift.

1.The study population: The study population is considered because it is from which the sampling frame is obtained and findings to be generalized. 2. Statistic(s) and parameter(s): Statistic is a characteristic of sample while a parameter is a characteristic of a population. This implies that in the calculation of the sample size of a population, both the characteristics of the sample and that of population are put into consideration.

3.Sampling frame : The listing of the accessible population from which you'll draw your sample is called the sampling frame . 4.Accuracy: In any research, there is need to be as more correct as possible to minimize errors arising from the study. In calculating the sample size, the degree of correctness of the findings is taken into account

5.Population size: The larger the population the larger the sample size and vice-versa

1.Define the population: This is the target population from which a sample with definitive features will be selected 2. Frame the population: This is the list of elements from which the potential respondents are drawn. 3. Choose the sample design: This is the technique employed by the researcher to obtain sampling.
